Yowza ... that new Leia is great. Especially since I can think of at least three ways in which you can put her into play as a surprise during the Action Phase that comes after the engagement declaration, but before the end of the DS conflict phase (So DS has no possibility any more to declare an engagement to send in their vulnerable units):

- Use her in the Edge Battle for 3 force icons then call her back with Return of the Jedi;

- Falcon her;

- Use Heroes and Legends to replace a rebel Leia (immediately freeing up whatever double-focused cards you might still have in play at that moment)

Too bad that like most LS main characters she's vulnerable to a Force Choking Vader.

Return of the Jedi doesn't work. She's Force Sensitive not a Force User.

Does Heroes and Legends work either?... As rebel Leia wont return to your hand - she'll get captured instead...

Interesting interaction to check up on.

toqtamish ... you're right. I thought I had checked it correctly but I missed that Jedi Leia is "only" Sensitive.

FullyOperational ... I think it should work ... you pay the cost of "reveal a character from your hand to return a target unit you control with the same name to your hand." The cost is revealing the Unique character, the effect is moving the one in play to your hand which is then interrupted by Leia's forced interrupt. Even under FAQ 3.6, this is a valid initiation of the cost.

"Then, put the revealed unit in play." This wording is not dependent on the returned character actually reaching your hand, just on the exchange having been initiated.

Correct it would work.

There are so many neat new Jedi sets clamoring for a one-of in my deck as possible replacements of Heroes and Legends that I'm really not sure what to do.

For some reason the link doesn't take me anywhere. Anyone else on iPhone having problems?

Try

Heroes and Legends does not work to swap the Leias. The reason is that it uses the word "then." In order to do the text following "then" you first must successfully resolve the text preceding "then." In this case, you attempt to return Leia to hand, but she is captured instead, so you don't successfully resolve the first part and cannot proceed to the final part (putting the revealed Leia into play). See THEN, pg 27 of rule book.

To be clear, the trick does work to bounce the Rebel Leia, it just doesn't get a new Leia into play.

The way I understand it, the "Then" clause follows the "reveal a unique unit" part of the action.

You can reveal a unique unit because there is a unit with the same name in play.

I guess that's one for the FAQs even before the Force pack is released :D

Except that's not quite how it's worded. In fact, revealing the unit is part of the cost, not part of the effect at all.

Full text: Action: Focus this objective and reveal a unique Character unit from your hand to return a target unit you control with the same name to your hand. Then, put the revealed unit into play.

Cost: Focus this objective and reveal a unique Character unit from your hand

Effect: return a target unit you control with the same name to your hand. Then, put the revealed unit into play.

In order to do the part of the effect after the "Then," you have to complete the part before the "Then." In this case, that means returning the target unit to your hand.

"Leia's Command

Reaction: After an opponent's conflict phase ends, deal 1 damage to each ready unit and objective controlled by that player. This damage cannot be prevented by shields."

Is the "ready" qualifier supposed to apply to their objectives, or just their units?

Following the logic of Life Creates It in the upcoming big expansion, it should apply to the objectives as well, yes.

"Ready" applies to both units and objectives as per section 3.4 of the FAQ.

Given the right setup... you could deal massive damage to your opponent's objectives. O_O

1. Force with the Light Side

2. 2x Leia's Command

3. It Binds All Things

4. Repeat

Leia's Command only works on ready objectives, if your opponent spent all their resources it's a dead card. I don't see it doing massive damage maybe a few points sometimes.

You'll get 2 damage on all of the ready objectives and units that turn, but then have your opponent know exactly what's coming next turn if you want to try it again so they'll probably find a way to exhaust all of their objectives. Remember, by the time you can play It Binds All Things it's too late to play Leia's Command again until the next turn.

I didn't catch that it meant ready objectives as well. Still, it is good. Can force your opponent to use up resources on cards they would rather keep for an edge battle.

Couple of notes: after playing it in an event, I think Match Points should be 4pts for each objective destroyed as LS and 1pt for each click on dial for DS. Also, it still has issues with Top Cuts that need to be a bit sorted out. But, it is drastically better than the current system
