Pick One List Forever

By Ribann, in X-Wing

If you're asking me what I play with the most and have had the most success with, then Blues + HLC. In fact, I just won a free transport at a local event yesterday with XXXBB (it was an escalation tournament).

If you're asking me what I would play forever, that's a question I don't even want to think about, let alone answer. There's a reason why I own 2-6 of every ship released thus far, including the two-hundred some odd dollars I just spent on wave 4. Knowing my own limited tolerance for repetition, I would probably stop playing this game within a week if I was forced to play only one list.

4 Tala squadron pilots and 4 Bandit squadron pilots.

****, I didn't realize Biggs could sing so well.

I probably would stop playing if I was forced to only ever use one list. More than half the fun of the game comes with the variety of the ships, with juggling and tweaking builds before the game, with trying out ever new stuff - you won't ever see me appear at two tournaments with the same build, much less casual games.

(Yes, I'm aware that this echoes other posts in this very thread  )

That said, if I really had to lock down to one list, it would probably be this:

Turr Phennir (28)
TIE Interceptor (25), Push the Limit (3)
Saber Squadron Pilot (24)
TIE Interceptor (21), Push the Limit (3)
Saber Squadron Pilot (24)
TIE Interceptor (21), Push the Limit (3)
Saber Squadron Pilot (24)
TIE Interceptor (21), Push the Limit (3)

Interesting list choices. My current list keeps changing, but I am loving it so much!

Soontir Fel (Push the Limit, Hull Upgrade, Royal Guard TIE, Targeting Computer)

Royal Guard TIE (Push the Limit)

Saber Squadron Pilot (Push the Limit)

"Backstabber"

100 points.

I really like the relatively high Pilot Skill here. I used to have Lorrir instead of Saber, but he didn't last long compared the other "turtling" interceptors, even though his PS helped against the PS 4 generics. "Backstabber" isn't usually the first target, so his ability kicks in a lot, and really makes him worth his 16 points. And Fel is obvious. He is just an awesome pilot, able to maneuver out of arcs, and make his shots count with the help of Targeting Computer. I like flying this list because no two games are ever the same. I spread out across my edge, and half the fun is maneuvering through the asteroids to converge on the opposing squad (who usually all stick together). I also love being able to reposition after maneuvering -- it really makes it feel like I'm piloting these awesome starfighters! Unfortunately, it's super weak against Darth Vader shuttles, but no list is perfect. And I haven't played it much against Wave 4 ships, so I'll have to play and see how it holds up.

Like a lot of people, I think I would stop playing if I would be stuck always playing the same list. I hardly ever use the same list more than 2-3 games.

But, if I were to pick one, it would be:

Darth Vader + Outmaneuver + Engine Upgrade

Mauler Mithel

Backstabber

Dark Curse

Black Squadron Pilot + Veteran Instinct

You can hardly be more iconic than that and it's a very fun list to play.

Four TIEs and no Howlrunner? Wars have been fought over lesser sacrilege.

I see so many list threads, I can't even attempt to try them all. So here's a question:IF you could only EVER use ONE list with all current legal ships in all future tournaments and casual games, what list would you run? Also, list the reason why you'd run it.I'll start:Biggs + R2-D6 + Vet. InstinctsLuke + R2-D2 + Draw Their FireCorran + FCS + MarksmanshipReason: Have only ever lost two matches out of about ~25 games with this list. Won a tournament today with it. It's easy, gives great synergy, packs a huge punch, and has very good defensive potential.tl;dr Pick one list to use forever and give your reasons.

Veteran instincts

Advanced cloak

Howlrunner

Swarm tactics

Alpha Squadron

Academy pilot x2

I have gone 7-0 with this.

From Falcon, wedge, shuttles with mini swarm, swarms, and two shuttles with Krassis

In all games it was pretty devastating.

Having the squint mixed in with the mini swarm is awesome, and getting swarm tactics, all the better

Then there is echo...

I have enjoyed play luke with predator biggs and 2 blues. I'll go with that as a life time list.

I love Tie Bombers. I do ok with them and win about 60 percent of my games. The list I use all the time, my go to list, is:

Captain Jonus with Squad Leader

Scimitar with cluster missiles and assault missiles x 3

It is a lot of fun to play and if I roll decent can be devastating to my opponents. That being said if I roll poorly(read Imdaar Alpha where I rolled 9 straight blank evade die) I can loose pretty badly.

What can I say? I prefer thematic over Min/Maxing.

And it's still a very potent list. No need to fly in formation, you barrel roll all over the place.

Three XWings for me, Wes, Wedge and Luke with various upgrades. I'm still working on the combo that works best for me.

Swarm Of Echos

"Echo"
Weapons Engineer , Fire-Control System, Veteran Instincts, Advanced Cloaking Device
12 points
Academy Pilot #1
12 points
Academy Pilot #2
12 points
Academy Pilot #3
12 points
Academy Pilot #4
12 points
Academy Pilot #5

Now here's why: the depth of complexity with it will never get boring. Dancing with echo is the hardest thing to do I've seen in the game. Throw 5 vanilla TIEs into the mix and it gets even harder.

I Think My list would be:

blue - adv. sensors, flechette torp. (27)

blue - adv. sensors (25)

2x gold - ion turret, R2 astro. (24,24)

loads of fun to play and very effective :D
