E-Wing: Putting it into a list?

By Resv, in X-Wing

Alright, so when wave 4 first was announced I jumped at the chance for get a couple of E-Wings. Now I have two of these things in hand and I just can't figure out what to do with them. I have been stuck looking at the Squad builder and they just don't seem to fit well into how I like to build my lists. As for the named guys, Etahn can be really fun and is a really nice force multiplier but Corran is really expensive, even with his nifty double tap.

My Normal List is usually AABB and with PTL's and AS passed around. Now looking at the E-Wing I don't know how to build around it. Here are some of my attempts to make them sorta work.

-Green Squadron Pilot - Opportunist, Shield Upgrade
-Green Squadron Pilot - Opportunist, Shield Upgrade
-Etahn A'baht - R2 Astromech, Flechette Torpedo, Opportunist, Advanced Sensors, Shield Upgrade
-Etahn A'baht - R2 Astromech, Flechette Torpedo, Opportunist, Advanced Sensors, Shield Upgrade
-Dagger Squadron Pilot - Advanced Sensors
-Dagger Squadron Pilot - Advanced Sensors
-Etahn A'baht
-Dagger Squadron Pilot
-Dagger Squadron Pilot
-Green Squadron Pilot
I have some others but they are really just variations on the above. I honestly don't think I could really put two of these things in one list and have it be effective against a swarm enemy. I really wanted to reach out to the community and see if anyone has yet cracked the code for how to use these things.

Been kind of having the same problem

I been finding you can make some really nice 3 ship builds, but that's just it.

It's 3 ships

Or 4 ship but either low PS pilots with maybe one good one, and not much for upgrades.

And in the four ship build I keep coming back with one z95 in there

Need some inspiration

I just can't see using an E-Wing and it NOT being Corran Horn.

How bout this if you want 4 ships?

blank.gif?v84 Corran Horn + R7-T1 (38)
blank.gif?v84 Bandit Squadron Pilot + Assault Missiles + Munitions Failsafe (18)
blank.gif?v84 Bandit Squadron Pilot + Assault Missiles + Munitions Failsafe (18)
blank.gif?v84 Airen Cracken + Assault Missiles + Deadeye + Munitions Failsafe (26)

OR:

blank.gif?v84 Corran Horn + R7-T1 + Push the Limit + Engine Upgrade (45)
blank.gif?v84 Bandit Squadron Pilot + Assault Missiles + Munitions Failsafe (18)
blank.gif?v84 Bandit Squadron Pilot + Assault Missiles + Munitions Failsafe (18)

I have made a few nice three ship builds using the named pilots- Etahn, Biggs with Hull Upgrade and Corran with FCS and Marksmanship is nice for the firepower. A team I can't wait to play is Etahn with Advanced Sensors and Predator, Wedge with Predator and Wes with Veteran. That initial strike from Wes and Wedge at 9 and 10, buffed by rerolls and getting extra crits from Etahn is just devastating.

For a four-ship build, I think this one might work out well.

Etahn with R2 Astromech or Veteran Instincts (personal preference)

Biggs

Rookie X-Wing

Cracken with Wingman.

You could also replace Cracken with another Rookie, but I think Cracken gives the squad some more flexibility.

32: Etahn

13: Tala

13: Tala

42: Chewie

4 ships with PS 4 or 5 and a YT. Gives crits but doesn't take them. Seems fun!

Any E-Wing uses R2-D2 to greater effect than Luke Skywalker does.

I've got a basic low PS build that I like.

A'baht, Gold with Ion, Blue with FCS, and a Rookie.

I've run

Corran with R2-D2 and FCS

Dagger with advanced sensors and HL C

Bandit squadron pilot

Bandit squadron pilot

It worked pretty well. I grouped the bandits around Corran and flanked with the B-wing for range 2-3 HLC shots. r2-d2 works great after the E-wings double tap round. It'll just take some more practicing on my part

Im digging Etahn w/ AdvS, R7-T1, VI. The main issue is that he can't handle Echo.

Corran w/ FCS, PTL, Engine, R2 is something i definitely wamt to try.

It hard to see the generics working but shrugs. Sensor Jammer is interesting.

I lerve Corran. I just can't fit him into a list that I feel like brings enough offense to the table. He gets super expensive to kit out appropriately. I usually end up having to throw a naked bandit in just to keep the total ship count up.

I have always wanted to try an E-Wing with fsc, PTL, r2d2, and shield upgrade. Then, when I bought 2 e-wings, I noticed that the higher standard pilot doesn't have an kept slot.

FOILED AGAIN!!!

But seriously, taking an evade+action each turn, with 4 shields+3 evade dice that r2d2 can restore... just sounds great. Like, foaming at the mouth if I make it to the endgame great. Heck, I could use that other guy that has spending focuses to restore Shields.

Anyways, what is your guys thoughts on 3 evade dice+evade token, 4 regenerable shields, and barrel rolling before you move.

Am I doing it wrong?

I think Es are the toughest of the wave 4 to put into a list. You can do three in a list but its going to hurt.

Wave 4 almost feels like it was designed to reduce the number of ships in the field.

39 Etahn A'baht + Advanced Sensors + r7t1 + Determination

36 Ten Numb + Sensor Jammer + Determination

25 Biggs

Awesome sauce.

As the new wave four ships go, the E-wing is closest to the price of the ship on it team of any other ship. Sure you get a three build fleet, but three build fleets aren't really that uncommon for a rebel player.

Now I am over hear trying to build TIE Defender lists and I am coming up with three build lists. When I do an Imperial 3 ship list I better be flying Firesprays!

I also run Corran with FCS and Marksmanship. Went 2-1 this week with it.

the full list was:

Corran w/FCS, Marksmanship and Hull upgrade

Ibtisam

ORS w/Anti-pursuit Lasers

For a lolz list I want to run Corran with R2-F2, stealth device and PTL. Rolling 5 evade dice as Rebels with an evade or focus; I think it would be fun.

I actually really like that. Gotta put adv sensors on there so you can PtL before you move and clear it with a green move. You can do it turn after turn.

I'm going to try this list out at some point this week:

32 Etahn A'baht

4 Engine Upgrade

3 Advanced Sensors

3 Push the Limit

1 R2 Astromech

19 Airen Cracken

2 Swarm Tactics

12 Bandit Squadron Pilot x3

I am excited to run 3 E-Wings and see how they do. I think 3 ship builds are very common with Rebels unless you are running a bunch of low skill A-Wings (before wave 4 atleast).

Here are the list im wanting to try.

Etahn - r2d2 - Predator + fire control - 41

Bloodmoon - 29

bloodmoon - 29

total - 99

Etahn - r2d2 - Predator + fire control - 41

Knave - Fire control - 29

knave - fire control - 29

total - 99

Wedge - Outmaneuver

Ethan - predator + fire control

Blackmoon - Fire Control

total - 100

Etahn - fire control

Knave - Fire control

Bandit - Assault - Failsafe

Bandit - Assault - Failsafe

Corran is really expensive, even with his nifty double tap.

Hey, I like that. I have other versions of this list, but with a Gunner/Luke on Chewie, I think I may have to change the name of this one to "Double Tap":

Chewbacca (42)

+ Luke Skywalker (7)

+ Decoy (2)

+ Millenium Falcon (1)

Corran Horn (35)

+ Engine Upgrade (4)

+ R2-D2 (4)

+ Marksmanship (3)

+ Fire-Control System (2)

Etahn + R2 + PtL

Corran + R2 + PtL

Jake + Refit + Predator

Now let's see those Imps say that their ships are faster and more maneuvrable.

With 5 pts left to upgrade as you see fit. To me, this is one of the best Ewing lists you will see.

Xwings are very efficient ships, even the rookies. Pair them up with etahns auto crit ability and some serious damage can be done.

I suggest using the 5 pts to upgrade the Ewing's survivability. He has a huge target in this list.

Came up with this list and ran it last night:

Roark Garnet + Ion Turret (24pts)

Airen Cracken + Swarm Tactics (21pts)

Tarn Mison + R7 (25pts)

Knave Squadron Pilot + FCS (29pts)

It was a lot of fun to fly. Kept them in a pinwheel formation and cut in off the flank for a pretty stellar alpha strike. Roark let Tarn shoot at PS12, then Airen shot letting Knave shoot at PS8 with focus and target lock.

After that, I split them in to two wings, Roark and Tarn together, and Cracken and Knave. Cracken can keep feeding focuses to Knave who already has target locks on opponents and is free to barrel roll for better position, and Tarn can keep shooting first at PS12. Opponent went after Cracken and the Knave, which left Roark and Tarn to try and cover their backs, which they did really well! Roark got a couple ions in to keep some fighters away from Cracken/Knave's backsides.

Came down to two academy TIE's against Roark and Tarn, Roark went down eventually, but Tarn was just too hard for them to kill and got the win in the end.

By changing 1 rookie to Biggs you protect Etahn quite a bit and wind up with 5 5 2 2 PS & 1 point to spare.

Or replace a Rookie with Cracken + Swarm Tactics, and then you shoot at 8-8-5-5, and Biggs can get some offensive potential with a TL in addition to the mandatory defensive focus.
