You can't win unless you post all 3 answers. So I wouldn't post until you have all of them, otherwise you'll just be helping someone else answer faster.
EU Contest (AOR GM Kit) Win a Free Signed Book!
1: Imperial Intelligence, Bureau of Operation, Infiltration
2: Yuuzhan Vong
3 rear view mirror
Nope! Also note, the questions want you to "show your work" and provide where the evidence is. Even if you get the answers all correct, if you don't show the evidence, you can't win! Good luck!
What sucks is I've got a good guess for 1 but don't know the second clue, And a good guess for 3 but no idea for all about 2.
Hey everyone! Thought I'd drop by and pour some salt in the wound a bit. Question number three is really the only easy one. I was a part of Keith's process while writing this adventure, and even I had to be reminded of a few parts of the answers. So I'm not saying you guys are screwed, but I'm just saying, "good luck." ![]()
I tried. I got another idea for number 1, but i cannot find any other "clues"
Edited by kinnisonKinnison's answer for one is what I thought except I missed the no taking on crew part.
For the first one, I'll have to go with the Contispex Crusader, bearing the name of the Republic Chancellor who was also into a super secret cult.
Number two - the shield was built by the Rakata. Why? A reptillian race building a turtle shaped space station (the Testudinal shape, and "Tortuga" is the Spanish word for turtle)
Three - The ISP-6 has Rear View Mirrors?!?
Wow, lots of fixation on the Contispex Crusader! Sorry guys, no right answers yet except to question 3, which many people have gotten correct! Lots of interesting tries though!
Well, I got nothing then - the Rakata/turtle connection was the only thing I could come up with. And of course now I'm stuck thinking of Tooga as a vaguely Gamera shaped spacestation!

I said the questions would be hard
If no one gets anywhere with questions 1 or 2 by next Tuesday, I'll probably drop some hints, although I honestly thought question 2 would have been figured out by now.
OK, I'll take a stab:
1) The Spinster's Loom, once served with the Mantooine Liberators. My reasoning is that it gets its name from Loom Carplin, who once worked for the "spinster" Travia Chan. Backing this up is the wookie pilot with a droid sidekick, which echoes Loom's second in command Busurra.
2) I'm going to go out on a limb and say Duros. Primarily because they are renowned as one of the first spacefaring races and they are descended from ancient reptiles.
3) I'll go with the crowd here and say rear view mirrors.
1-Spinster's Loom is named after Loom Carplin, who once served the Mantooine Liberators (a resistance group on Mantooine) and it is piloted by a wookie mimicing Carplins original copilot Busurra.
2- The Gree built the shield, there are strange mechanical devices and geometric symbols on the station.
3- rearview mirror to spot the rebels.
So your stipulation was no edit, didn't say anything about a second post to rectify an answer.
1- Spinster's Loom was part of the Antrivis Resistance Group after the fall of the Mantooine Liberators. Named after Loom Carplin who was the "Spinster" Travia Chan's right hand. Piloted by a Wookiee which mimics Looms original co pilot Busurra.
2- The Gree built the shield, "Strange machinery and ancient geometric markings are everywhere."
3- no mention of the rearview mirror to spot rebels. I'm guessing they just haven't used that hardpoint to add it on yet.
Wow! Gribble, Masa, that's actually kind of amazing about the Spinster's Loom, but no. The wookiee thing being a clue is sort of stretching it as a clue, and while a rebel cell is much closer to a secret society than Imperial intelligence, I can tell you that no, I wouldn't have described a resistance group that way. When I say secret society, that is exactly what I mean.
For both of you on question two, as far as clues go, the clue is definitely much more specific than those general sort of vague things. It's a really interesting experiment to see what people read into and what connections you guys are finding, especially some of these things that weren't consciously built in.
And yes, second, third, fourth, and five hundredth posts are just fine.
I also found that the Rescue CV90 "Remember Alderaan" there was a MonCal crusier of the same name in the Battle of Mindor
1 Mandalorian Secret Service
2 The Ones, Mindwalkers
3 rear veiw mirror
1 The Order of the Terrible Glare
2 The Herglic
3 rear veiw mirror
Still no winner! Keep working it, guys!
Hey everyone,
So my name is Keith Ryan Kappel, and I was the writer for the adventure and rules supplement that is packaged with the AOR GM Kit. I had a ton of fun crafting the adventure, and there are more obscure EU references than you can shake a stick at buried in the text of the adventure. In fact, there are so many, you might say there is something like an EU information scavenger hunt built into said adventure.
On Tuesday, July 15th (I want some people to have time to play through and then read the adventure, or account for some late shipping times) I will ask a question in this thread. The first person to post the correct complete answer (as judged by me) will win a free signed copy of one of the Star Wars products I have worked on for FFG. This includes Suns of Fortune, the AOR GM Kit, and the upcoming Far Horizons colonist class book (if you feel like waiting on your reward). I'm willing to pay shipping so long as its under 10 bucks, otherwise we'll have to work something else out.
Anyway, I hope you guys all enjoy the adventure, and I wish you all luck in the contest!
Hey I loved your work in that book I wish I owned it. The only thing that made me lift an eyebrow was that the TIE Interceptor is stated to have less armor that a TIE Fighter and that the both have crude avionics. In all the cross-section and tech books it says the opposite LOL. I am glad you gave Intercetor pilots credit they deserve and that you labled the Interceptor cannons as heavy =] They vap fighter in movies and other mediums with just a single beam so it being listed as having a set of heavy lasers works for me!
Okay, so I missed pre-posting yesterday. My bad. The day job really had me scrambling until the wee hours. However, I am still planning to post my question/s this evening. Say 7 PM Eastern time.
Some quick rules.
1.) You only win if you are the first person to correctly and entirely answer the question in this thread, so read carefully. Putting up a partial answer early only helps your competition.
2.) If you edit your post, you are disqualified. I don't want people rushing to first and then edit their post as a form of cheating to make it look like they answered first. So if you edit, auto-DQ.
3.) No crying. This is just something I'm doing for fun. So have fun. However, feel free to whine about how hard the question/s is/are, as appropriate. Whining of all sorts is acceptable. Just no crying.
4.) As stated previously, the winner can get a copy (optionally signed by me) of any FFG book I have worked on thus far, which includes Suns of Fortune, the AOR GM Kit (which you presumably have already) or the upcoming Far Horizons (colonist book). I am willing to pay shipping so long as its not a zillion dollars to antarctica or mars or something. (Spirit rover pays its own shipping!)
Good luck to all the participants! I'll be back in 4 hours with the actual questions.
edit saw i musr answer all three questions.

Appreciate the kudos! However, I did not work on the AoR Core Rulebook, just the GM's Kit. I don't believe the TIE Ints make an appearance, and they were not anything I worked on. However, in defense of whoever did the work on those, I will say that statting out ships for a license like Star Wars can be tricky, because on one hand you are looking for some sort of balance, while on the other you want to stay true to the lore. It can be a difficult tightrope to walk sometimes, and of course, there are always some fans who will disagree with any given interpretation. The TIE design isn't the most sturdy overall, but the larger solar panels should probably give the INT better armor, you'd think. However, you might say some of the systems within the newer interceptor are more fragile or glitchy, and maybe it is just more prone to break down in general after taking a hit. Of course, for your own table, there's always house rules! Make the interceptor as you see it!
Good luck on the hunt!
Kieth, Whats up my man! This is Scott (of Damain DuPage Scott & Mel!)
Haha, what's up, man! Come to try your hand at my Star Wars lore puzzle?
Okay, here we go! Good luck everyone!
Question 1: Clues indicate that a vehicle in Dead in the Water once covertly served a secret society within the Star Wars galaxy. Which ship had this mysterious past? Which secret organization did it serve? And What are the TWO clues that lead you to this conclusion?
Question 2: Port Tooga is protected by an exotic, alien energy shield that allows it to orbit VERY closely to its star. Which alien race built the shield, and what key clue leads to this conclusion?
Question 3: The Shuttle Pod has no mention of this key feature of dubious canonical relevance.
Good luck everyone, happy scavenging, and have fun! If this is a hit, I'll see about doing something like this again with a future product.
Answer 1 Covert Activities Cadre the ship is the Scout vessel Bright Seeker. The two cles are.... 1 this is the only secret group that has a important named ship that I know of, not counting sith. 2 There objective was only in the best intrest of house Melantha.

It was found to have energy absorbing and shield tech left behind that the Hoojibs because the dont build high tech stuff BUT they did share the area with the Rebs. Leia used the Kerts-Bhrg field generator to protect the rebels. It was capable of alowing the user to orbit the corona of a star.
Answer 3 ISP-6 Imperial Shuttle Pod has a rear-view mirror
