Barnes and Noble sale

By crazyxginger, in X-Wing

I'm not entirely sure if all Barnes and Noble locations are doing this but I just visited one and scored gold. I nabbed 3 B-Wings, 3 TIE Fighters, a TIE Advanced, a TIE Bomber, and a Lambda shuttle all at half price. Cost me about $70. You all might want to check out your location just in case. Hope this tip helps. Good luck.

There's quite a bit of discussion on this already; most B&Ns are not participating in this sale, unfortunately

Just curious but where are u located? correct me if im wrong but so far its been CA stores mostly

I'm currently sitting in the B&N in West San Jose (Stevens Creek Blvd & San Tomas Expressway), and there's no X-wing sale going on.

I am starting to think the B&N threads are hoaxes. Sorry been stalking mine and no sales.

Not this again.

I had an experience similar to many reported so far- I found my local B&N had a display set up in their

toys/games area with X-Wing, Star Wars Black collection and Star Wars CCG on one stand. The stand

had B, X, Y, TIE bombers, ln and advanced, Moldy Crow, Slave 1, Falcon and Lambda as well as

transport- no corvettes, E, A, Z, Phantoms or Defenders. I grabbed a TIE Advanced off of the peg and

asked the sales clerk to check on any upcoming sale. She scanned it and told me there was no indication

of a coming sale- just showed that it was to be displayed until Sept, as others have reported.

Of course, I got an e-mail from B&N yesterday mentioning a 50% off red dot sale, but she said it didn't

mention anything about that either- the red dot stuff had already been seperated off onto seperate

tables. I did look them over just in case- no joy! Then today I got an e-mail from B&N all about a sale on

common culture items- Marvel, DC, Dr. Who, etcetera, but again nothing on X-Wing. I'd almost think the

stores that have the stuff on sale were all in areas that aren't selling a lot of the line, but from what other

folks have said that doesn't seem to be the case. The only thing to do is to keep checking your local B&N

and report in if you find anything. For 50% off it's worth it! I won't mind because my local store is right

around the corner from my favorite gaming store, so one way or the other the trip won't be a waste! ;)

Some guy claimed to have cleared out the Fullerton store and had a friend doing the same in Irvine (both Orange County, SoCal), but I've had friends check both OC and south LA county stores today and none are on sale.

I think it's a lie.

When I got into X-wing I was able to nab a couple of core sets on clearance at Target, at another Target in the same city less than 5 miles away they were full price. I asked one of the Employees and he said that it is based on sales, the location where they were on clearance wasn't selling enough so the powers that be decided to get rid of them and use the shelf space for something else.

While it is a different chain but I assume that the same situation could apply if these sales really are happening

And it could also be to clear shelf space for new stock that's coming in (Wave IV, etc.) I know that people are posting that they haven't seen Wave IV yet, but in my experience, B&N tends to get things a little bit later than FLGS and only updates their sections one a week.

But this could be wishful thinking because B&N is my main source of product right now (my FLGS is hideous and my better options are all at least an hour drive away).

My opinion on this whole thing is that it is not a nation-wide event happening to every store eventually, but that those certain stores that lack in X-Wing sales are clearing it out. Other stores that sell well will not see the game go anywhere.

Why do I think this? In Utah there are about 6 stores in a 40 mile radius around Salt Lake. None of the stores in the city are having the sale, and I don't suspect they will considering the XWM community here. However the one store that is like 2 hours north is confirmed to have the sale.

My guess is because their sales are horrible. It makes sense to me to clear it out for something that sells better at those stores.
