Force Cycle Yoda, holy crap

By The Gas, in Star Wars: The Card Game

Dial's at 8? No prob, I'll 1-shot Executor. O_O Black unit damage equal to dial position, ON TOP OF a black tactics and blast? For 3 resources? Crazy. Sure he's a little squishy, but that's what Secret of Yavin IV is for.

Comes with a 2-cost event that lets you search for him and put him in play, effectively making him a 4-of. Sure it increments the dial, but considering his text, you might actually want that, it might make the difference between killing Vader or eating his counterattack. (Oh wait no it won't, if he survives an attack from Yoda you'll just tactics him down. But there was probably a better place for that focus token to go.)

Free creature that down-clicks the dial. Sure it's choke bait, but that's 1 point of damage that won't be hitting your mains, and against non-sith decks it could be a serious annoyance.

Plus the objective is really nice.

There is no doubt about it. This Yoda is pretty sweet. I think the hard part with Yoda is getting your opponent to consider blocking when the dial is ticked up.

I don't know, he is just going to kill one thing. He could game 1000 guns. Don't get me wrong he is good, but he can blocked with two troopers.

Give him Shii-Cho training and both those Troopers go squish.

He is awesome for sure
.

Played this yesterday and worked well:

Old Yoda x1

New Yoda x2

Luke x2

Katarn x2

New Ben x1

Moldy Crow x2

There basically are 7 Yodas in the deck. Once the New Yoda hits the table though, try to avoid damage. Once he takes one, he is then a target for FC Vader. So some tinkering needs to be done to see about that shielding enhancement, Jedi isn't it?

And maybe protectors instead of Moldy Crow.

Thoughts?

Give those troopers some Heat of Battles and Yoda goes squish? There's always an answer :)

This Yoda will certainly force the DS to think about how and if they want to block though.

That's why I was thinking about Shielding and Protectors, maybe some Twists pods too.

Yeah, I was responding to Toqtamish and his Shii-Cho comment... but you ninja'd me. Again, always an answer, could go back-and-forth forever with counters :D

Play a Protection fate card to counter those Heat of Battles. ;)

Don't forget having Plan of the Prophetess on table, playing 2 copies of Deadly Sight on Yoda, and then committing him with Echoes of the Force. And if the LS counters one of the copies of Deadly Sight you can always also use a Seeds of Decay to focus Yoda and hit him with a Force Lightning. That sequence only takes 9 resources (8 if Emperor's Web is on table) and 5 specific cards in your hand. :P

Then you flip the table and win! :P

I see what you did there. Ohooo :D

New Yoda makes me super happy. I'm having both Yodas in my Jedi deck since I don't want to give up Counterstroke. Two core and one new.

Once Between the Shadows comes out, you'll be able to run SIX Yodas (plus two card that let you search for him, in which case you'll be able to pick the best Yoda for the current board state.) O_O

I can't see that ever being a viable deck idea. I've got 3, 1 old 2 new in my current Jedi deck.
