Z95 Build Suggestions

By ghaerdon2, in X-Wing

I'm going to have 4 z95s, 2 E Wings and two of pretty much all the previous waves. I feel kind of lost in this as I have been playing Biggs Walks the Dogs and other XXBB combos.

What could I build with four z95s that isn't going to fold like a house of cards? Also what can withstand Soontir Fel who shows up a lot at my gaming group.

BBZZZZ

4 Zs is a lot of huts for the points. Consider you have greater durability than a B-wing, and comparable firepower on two Zs. Don't underestimate Zs.

As for Fel. He dies fast. Line up a shot, block his actions, and he dies.

A good start is taking any list that includes two generic Xs, swapping them for three Headhunters, and seeing what else you can do with the extra 6+ points.

I call this EZBees:

Etahn A'baht

Airen Cracken w/Homing Missiles

Blue Squadron Pilot (x2)

Mini Z-Swarm:

Etahn A'baht

Bandit Squadron Pilot w/Homing Missiles (x4)

Why homing missile? Assault missile offers far greater options for the same cost.

I get to keep the TL with homing Missiles, and if my dice roll is bad, I can use the TL to reroll the blanks.

I want to try this:

4 x Tala Squad (each with assault missiles and munition fail safes)

Lt. Blount with assault missles and swarm tactics

Its very experimental, and I have yet to even fly a z-95 but I like the idea of 5 ships with five assault missiles that will always eventually hit. This is just mean for swarm lists. This squad is giving you 10 shield, 10 hull, 10 attack dice (20 in one round with the missiles, which then each produce additional damage when they blow up no near by ships). I am excited to try it.

Alternatively I thought about Cracken with cluster missiles and wing man, who gets paired with Etahn who rocks PTL and R7-T1 with APT, and biggs with a shield upgrade and an R7 Astromech. The E-Wing in this scenario is going to be pulling off four actions a turn without stress at the end of it (target lock, boost, evade, focus)....gross haha

Right. But you've literally spent 20 points on 12 damage before evade dice. Odds are Assault missiles will do far more, or force your opponent to break formation which helpa you just as much.

In the games that I've played, formation hasn't been an issue. I'll know more tonight; after I've played a buddy of mine that I've never been able to beat.

edit: Maybe I'll try two Homing Missiles and two Assault Missiles.

I've run Etahn with a similar build except I used Advanced Sensors instead of APT. It's mean but incredibly expensive.

Good luck, just know that ordnance kind of sucks. Part of it being that its better on high PS pilots.

Yeah, I'm still new to ordnance. I didn't start using it until last week when I started playing Cracken.

Only 3 Z-95's but I've been kicking around:

Lando + Swarm Tactics + Nien Numb + C-3PO + MF title

Cracken + Swarm Tactics + Hull Upgrade

2x Bandit

Very appreciative but is there a four Z95 build, with additionals? I'm not sure I can get the fifth one.

Soon...

Ethan A'bath - Draw Their Fire - Advanced Sensors - R2D2 (40)

4x Z-95 - Proton Rockets (60)

But until then, 5 Z's will do :D

So, for a Z-95, you think Proton Rockets > Ion Pulse Missiles?

Also, I don't agree with giving him DTF when any wise opponent will focus him down anyway.

My idea I'm waiting to try:

Eating A'boot

Bandit x 4 + concussion missile + failsafe

Guarantee at least one crit per shot and if it misses you get to keep it. Pretty solid alpha strike.

I'm looking forward to running:

Cracken - Cluster Missiles

2x Bandit - Assault Missiles

2x Green - Chaardan Refit, Test Pilot, Push The Limit, Veteran Instincts

=99 points.

Try a 50-52 point Falcon with 4 Bandits. Something like Chewbacca (42) with C-3P0 (3), Push the Limit (3), Falcon title (1), and a hull upgrade (3) for 52 total, plus 48 points of Bandits

Only 1 Z-95 needed for this combo build.

Kyle with blaster turret, Nien Numb and Crow title 29

Garven 26

Biggs with R2-F2 28

Bandit with assault missile

Biggs can have 3 agility and 2 focus tokens per turn, Bandit is protected from fast death, and gets focus for that missile shot

I've come up with something very very basic, but might have some legs:

Biggs (25) X

Blount (17) z95

Blue Sq Pilot (22) B

3 x Bandit Sq Pilot (36) z95

Comes right to 100, 6 ships, 14 Hull, 15 shields, 14 attack.

I like it!

The only ship that Biggs is really helping shield is the Blue though. Everything else does less damage than him. You could just swap him out for a Blue + Advanced Sensors, and keep it in the back.

Edit: Also, BXXZZZ

99pts - 3z's 3x's - No Gimmicks - A lot of ships, a lot of health, a lot of firepower, all PS2

XXXZZZ is good, BXXZZZ should be a little better, since B's are more durable than X's.

With either, a good formation would be the 3 Z's in the front (meatshields), and the X's/B in the back (cannons).

What about: 100

3xTalas

Proto A-Wing

2xBlue B-Wings

2PS jump for Z-95 for point more, yes please.

A-wing for blocking/flanking

B-Wings for damage and durability
