Does Anyone Else Enjoy Naming Their Builds?

By failedparachute, in X-Wing

Triple Threat (Wes, Wedge, Ibtisam)

Critastropher (Etahn, Ten, Blue)

Old Dogs of War (Salm, Dutch, 2xBandits)

Yes, I do. My favorite:

Kracker Jax.

Krassis + HLC

Carnor Jax

Doomshuttle

The only name I've come up with that I was really proud of was the following:

Queen of Hearts:

Kath Scarlet

Royal Guard Pilot x2

It just fit too perfectly, what with the Red color scheme and the RGP's to add the "Royal" flair.

Aside from that I usually name my squads using quotes from the movies.

I figured I might as well start a silly thread, since a quick search didn't turn up much. Mostly, I was curious if anyone else on here enjoys naming their X-Wing builds, whether it's something serious, silly, or punny (heck, two outta three ain't bad). I'm sure a lot of us have heard of Biggs Walks the Dags/Dogs, so let's hear what else you've got.

EDIT: Can't believe I forgot the obligatory "Han Shoots First."

To start things off, I'll list a couple of my builds:

Team Trench Run : Biggs, Luke, Wedge. These guys were my first tourney list, and I'm sure a lot of you have flown this trio, too, though I'm curious if anyone has any particularly amusing names for it.

Team Xbox: Wedge, Blue Squadron Pilot, Jan. So named because that's what it kinda sounds like when you try to say "X, B, Hawk," really fast.

Team Xbox 360: Wes, Ibby+HLC+Opportunist, Jan. This is the second incarnation of the above list. I'm really enjoying this list, though I can't say the same for my opponents. Someone on the receiving end of it gave it the moniker "Doom-Cannon," which amuses me on a personal level...

Team Xbox One: Wes+Swarm Tactics, Ibby+HLC+Opp, Roark. The third iteration of the two lists directly above. I've run this team a few times, and while shooting first is nice, it gets a bit hairy when Wes and Ibby get separated. Right now, I'm sticking with Team Xbox 360 (just like in real life, as far as Microsoft consoles are concerned).

2EZ: Corran, Etahn, Bandit Squad Pilot, Bandit Squad Pilot. I'm looking to fly this a few times once, I get my hands on Wave 4 (which should be sometime in the next 48 hours).

Wes Shoots First: Wes + VI, Wedge+Opp, Biggs. I think this one is fairly self-explanatory, though I have yet to actually run it.

Wes Really Shoots First: Wes, Wedge+Opp, Roark. See above comment...

Well, what about you guys? Also, feel free to include any upgrades/combos that are relevant, as I did above.

Yes, I do this often. Sometimes I even make subpar squads just to fit a name.

Red Eye Flight: Soontir, Carnor Jax and Kir Kanos with various blends of upgrades.

Die Wedge, Die! (can't actually post the real name for this one): Mauler + VI, Vader + Outmaneuver (formerly Marksmanship), Concussion Missiles, Engine Upgrade, Soontir Fel +PtL + RGT + Shield Upgrade + Targeting Computer

The Emperor Does Not Share Your Optimistic Appraisal Of The Situation: BST + Elusiveness x5, Dark Curse

I was particularly fond of my latest build:

"Mis-on-A'baht" - Etahn A'Baht + Tarn Mison + Bandit Squadron Pilot + Prototype Pilot.

Lol I call my main list katarvenutch

Kyle, Garven, Dutch.

They are all ps 6 so some people call it the devils list or kyles creepy van due to the action sharing and passing.

i usualy dont name my lsits but i have this krassis with a mini swarm of 3 ties where howlrunner is leading em

iam calling it Krassis and Friends

Krassis Trelix + seismic charge + co-pilot + HLC

Howlrunner + stealth device + swarm tactics

Winged Gundark

Night Beast

iam usually a guy that flies 6 tie fighter lists i have over 12 different build 6 tie fighter compositions but the krassis list is by far my favorite one have 4 different 4 tie interceptor lists aswell but the krassis list is more fun to fly ^^

I name all my builds Steve .

What can I say... I like the name.

Kyle, Garven, Dutch.

Going with Kyle and "Dutch"s last names makes it roll better.

Katarvender.

It's a veryy funny part of build squads, names that represent the squad, try to intimidate with the name, feel the synergy and imagine in words, greettings.

i ran 1 i called Lukes Big Wedge

you geussed it

Luke

Biggs

Wedge

I've run Chewie and a pair of Blue Squadron pilots that I called "Wookie Blues".

That's about as clever as I get.

I have a friend who named his y wing squad "I've my ion you". Guess what upgrade they had.

I prefer names that are simple and make it clear what the build is. I find many names are utterly ridiculous and don't elicit the composition all that well. That said, I'm a strict Imperial with no sense of humour.

3x RGPs+Hull+PtL

Darkcurse

List I am working on,

Echoes on the Wind (Phantom+stealthed ints)

HiDef Wings (Hob, Dutch, X, B)

Strawberry Fields (AAXX)

Plus a few others that I can't think of witty names for just yet xD

I usually name mine after situations...

Duel falcons... Lando and chewies amazing adventures... Hans carbonite years...

Lando, Dutch and rookie... Because everyone knows that duel falcons are for dicks.

Had a 15 minute walk to a tourney in an absolute down pour... Moist-Wing...

The only list I've actually named is Chewie's Knives.

Chewie w/PtL + Falcon

2x Dagger w/Adv Sensors

I like naming other peoples' builds: "Bad," "Garbage," "Stupid," and my favorite, "Just... why?"

I'm joking, of course.

Haha! I name all my squadrons so EVERYONE ELSE MUST DO SO TOO!

FYI you can see everyone else's names in the squadron lister — http://xwing-builder.co.uk/list — there's some corkers in there.

I started mostly because as VS said, he forces everyone to do so. But I like doing it anyway, helps keep them straight when I look my list.

I don't get the hate though. If I tell you that I'm playing Bantha Foder or Jan and the Boys, sure that may not tell you much about the squad, but as soon as I put the ships on the table it should be pretty clear what I'm going to play.

It's also not like you can't ask WTH is the Bantha Foder Squad?

I have 'Graduation Day' which is a mini Howlswarm with an OSP and sundries, and I've been thinking about a Blue Plate Special, x2 Blues with Advanced Sensors and Dash Rendar. Not sure it would fit though.

I made one (that is pretty useless to play with, but fun to build/name) called:

"Echo and the Bountymen."

Echo with particle accelerator, and two bounty hunter Firesprays.

I haven't named any of my lists so far, mostly because I like to use a different one every time if I can, but I was thinking of something along these lines earlier today.

Pretty much I just came up with the idea of a "Rebel Rainbow" its an ABXY list with green, blue, red and gold squadron's respectively. I don't know what upgrades you'd chuck in there and I don't actually own a Y-wing so I'll not be running it myself :/
