So here's how it started up. Excuse the brown tape! I've got some felt to a nice job on it now.

I'd already figured I was going to go for the Falcon and try to focus fire. Whatever I had left could then chase the A's around the board, and hopefully I'd have enough to close them down. There was an idea to either be in range 1 or 3 and not get caught somwhere I didn't get a benefit in some way.
----------------------------------------------
Onto turn 3, and In my haste to catch the Falcon I've thrown myself, in formation, into an asteroid. Utterly misjudged the soft 2. Academy Pilot took a crit from that asteroid, but at least it didn't become two rolls and the front cleared the rock. The A's have continued to scoot along the far edge no doubt looking to flank. Managed to get a few shields off the Falcon. The stripping starts!
IIRC, John had a missile with an AOE, used it in the first or second round, and it did pretty much nothing. Big loss that could have lead to a much different game.

----------------------------------------------
Now that asteroid mishap is out of the way, I chased down the YT. He's got a tonne of HP so I just keep trying. Damage isn't amazing but I'm at least chipping away still. A's are coming round and getting ready to go for it.

----------------------------------------------
Started to get busy! Few collision, with my own TIEs too. This is where the formation fell apart for me. Once again I got some shots onto the Falcon, and managed to dodge a lot too. John was getting very frustrated at me slowly chipping away whilst taking little in damage. I'd only lost the AP so far, not helped by his trip over the asteroid. A-Wings are in now!

----------------------------------------------
It all fragmented further from this point. I was being very cautious to not hit myself, and John split the A's. Overall I was still going for the Wookiee, but I'd take other chances if they presented themselves. That A is looking in trouble though, as my turns to get onto the YT are right on him.

----------------------------------------------
Moved on a couple of turns now, and you can see I picked off the A-Wing. Wrong place at the wrong time rebel scum! Onto the YT!!! I let the other A go at this point. I wanted that freighter off the board, especially as I'd got him down to 4 hull left.

----------------------------------------------
The YT is toast! I had splintered off a couple of TIEs to get the A and try to funnel him, but it wasn't really working. At least now I could concentrate fully on it. John was feeling pretty miffed at this point. Rolls hadn't gone well and I could see he was frustrated. I felt for him, as all my games against Ben have gone pretty much like that.

----------------------------------------------
Skipping forward a few turns, as there was no attacking and the A was just running for it's life. In my haste I even took the TIE's over some asteroids (without rolling hits!) to get to him quicker. This turn ended in the destruction of the A, and a first full win for me.

To give John some credit, he's played even l fewer games than I have, and dice rolls did not go his way. Hopefully he learnt a fair bit from this. I do believe he is after B's instead of A's now!
My plan to focus down the YT worked, even though there was some very clumsy flying. Those A-Wings are tough to catch up with! Maybe that will change now I'm going to start using my Interceptors....
I then had an invitation to meet with Vader, where he told me I was 'Impressive.....most impressive'.
As a group, Ben, John and I are still learning a lot, and there is still some reading of the book midway through games. But we're getting there and enjoying it
