X-Wing REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - Madness Games and Comics

SATURDAY JULY 19th, 2014

START TIME: 10 AM (Registration opens at 9:00 AM and closes at 9:50 AM)

Pregistration can be done in the store as of now. Payment is due at time of registration. To register over the phone, you must have a credit card available.

Entry Fee: $10

Tournament Structure:

We will be following the standard FFG tournament structure. We tentatively expect 6 Swiss Rounds and 3 (Top 8) elimination rounds based on attendance, with the possibility of expanding if necessary. We will be using 75 minute time limits per match. Please be prepared for quick round turnaround, there will only be approximately 5 minutes between rounds, and we will not be holding time for any reason. We will enforce match losses if a player is not prepared to play after the first 5 minutes after round start.

We WILL be requiring squad lists and doing random checks on all game components to ensure a competitive play environment. It will be helpful if you have the necessary squad lists to provide the TOs upon registration. Be sure to bring all required materials (Standard Damage Deck, Asteroids, tokens/dice/templates, etc) and verify that they meet the standards set out in the X-Wing Tournament Rules [link]. Failure to have the necessary components and/or if they have been tampered with prior to a match will result in potential Match Loss or Disqualification (based on TO discretion).

The most up to date FAQ and Tournament Rules will be used and several copies will be on hand for player and TO reference.

Ship Legality:

All ships/upgrades will be legal which were released prior to July 1st, 2014. Any ships or other components will NOT be allowed if they are released on or after July 1st. (E-Wing, Defender, Phantom & Z-95 released on 6/26 and ARE LEGAL for this event.

Prizes:

We will be awarding prizes from the FFG 2014 X-Wing Regional Championships Kit.

In addition, the Top 32 Participants will be awarded a custom 3'x3', high-quality, commemorative playmat at the conclusion of the tournament. You must be present at the end of the event to receive your playmat. No mats will be held. These mats are being produced exclusively for this event and will not be remade, or re-branded, ever.

Additional prizes to be announced at the event!

Additional Notes:

Please eat before rounds start, we are NOT planning on taking ANY breaks. Madness offers drinks and snacks at the store, and you are welcome to bring food if desired, provided it is kept away from the play area/surfaces.

Hope to see everyone! Fly Casual!

Wow, love the prizes. Cannot wait for this one!

Thanks for getting the thread started, Hida! :)

Can not wait. Thanks M

What material are the playmats made from? Just curious - sounds awesome!

Standard card playmat material. So cloth on top with the artwork and rubberized on the back.

So a couple of the podcast are reporting a very large turnout for this. Very excited. Let's make this one the best.

=). The 'additional prizes announced at the event' will be directly proportional to the attendence. The owner is greatly anticipating this event.

Who is making the predictions, and what are they saying? At least a handful of us will be driving up from Houston.

It was mentioned on the Kessel Run, but they are local. They mentioned both Scum and Villiany and Team Covenant coming down. Nova radio mentioned the same thing.

I can confirm Team Covenant will definately on hand. Some playing and a few filming =). Glad to hear there are additional teams making the trip. Again, we have almost unlimited space (300+ comfortably) so the more the merrier!

Well, this bodes extremely well for me, then, lol.

I chose not to attend AoIA at Madness as less attendance at a lesser venue meant a better shot at winning a Wave 4 ship.

Well, let me tell you, 9 dudes and I came in 6th. No ship.

So the biggest, best venue around wih dozens and dozens of people? I'm in like a mug and due to win it all! :D

As a disclaimer, we were out of town anyway when Madness ran their AoIA event, or I would've been there for sure.

Myself and another guy from MN are coming down. This will be regional #4 for both of us! Sadly I'm out of byes :(

Well, I certainly plan to be there. Sounds like this may end up being the largest Regional.

Save two spots for my buddy and me. We will be coming from Springdale, AR. Looking forward to it!

I am a newbie and wondering if spectators are allowed? I would like to swing by..

Yes, spectators are allowed provided they do not disrupt games in progress or prevent TO/judges from being able to perform their functions. Look forward to seeing you!

Looks like the Madness is going to be packed...

Looks like the Madness is going to be packed...

That is hard to do given their capacity, but I hope you are right!

Preregistered! Now I've just got to figure out what to fly.

Just over a week to go =) Hope everyone is getting ready.

PS - It looks unlikely that we will see an updated Wave 4 FAQ prior to the tournament. If you have any specific ruling questions please don't hesitate to post here or PM me and I will try to get a ruling back to you prior to the tournament. Thanks!

Only a few days remaining! Hope to see you all!

Tomorrow! Hope everyone traveling has a safe trip, look forward to seeing everyone!
