Kickstarter up for X-wing tokens (&c.)

By Vorpal Sword, in X-Wing

A friend of mine just launched a Kickstarter for laser-engraved gaming tokens, and one of the available pledge options is the "Fighter Ace" set of tokens for X-wing minis.

(Hopefully I'm not breaking any forum rules here…)

I don't have any stake in this at all, but I do have a set of his prototypes, and they got several compliments at my local Imdaar event. If your wallet isn't too stretched from Wave 4 and anticipating Rebel Aces and Wave 5, take a look.

Actually, I kinda dig the Celtic aesthetics, and those scorekeepers appeal to the Magic player in me. I'm tempted...

I'm okay with it, as long as you don't take away any of my points for the House Cup.

Reported why, exactly?

These seem...a bit cartoony for my tastes. I do like the stresses, target locks, ions, and the shields, but those focus/evades just seem wonky to me.
By far my favorite Stress design I've seen (aside from FFG's). If I could just get a set of those, I'd be happy

I believe the "reported' bit is an inside joke. On to the topic.

I'm sold! I like the X-Wing tokens, but the Netrunner ones really got me. I'll be nabbing the uber-deluxe package of them and the set of the X-Wing ones as well. I've been wanting a token solution for a bit, and I really like the look of these. I actually like the animated design, personally, but I can see where it might be off putting.

I have several friends who play Netrunner, and I'll be aiming them this way as well. Those click trackers are amazing!

Diggin' those tokens, would have to get extra shields.

Next company to come up with a cloak acrylic gets my money :)

These are quite nice and from what I could tell little things like adding more shields aswell are pretty cool, the only problem I think he'll have is that most x wing players are impatient with things like this, even seen people complaining about having to wait two weeks because they ordered from another country. Not to mention kickstarter's in general are notorious for loooong delays.

Best of luck to him though, more companies doing these equals more choice

From reading the KS, I'm not too concerned with delays. He has the patterns and such ready, and has made them before. It also sounds like he padded the estimated delivery time amply to allow for stuff. I officially jumped in just now, and am debating adding in a few more bits and bobs for xmas pressies, as that is near to the delivery time.

I'm getting some!

personally not my taste.. looks too "Magic" like... personally i would want some that look as close to the "Official" ones as possible.... seriously if you want to make some bucks make some "Ice dice" for X wing.... or anodized metal dice..

I like them. Personally I already have a full set as a guy in my gaming group does them through his work and his are also very good. But I wish you and your buddy all the best with this. It looks like a great product and it's a very reasonable price.

On a side note this is again showing that FF missed the boat on a very profitable side item in these acrylic tokens. With all these third party companies and people making custom sets, there's a huge demand for this stuff.

$30 is a pretty good price for that many tokens. I would consider it myself if I didn't have most of what I need Acrylic-token-wise.

I jumped on it. I don't have any acrylic tokens yet, and I like the look of these more than most I've seen (excepting the official FFG ones that are tourney prizes, and a few that cost more than I was willing to pay).

To answer a couple of questions: (I made the stuff Vorpal Sword posted about.)

It's possible to add extra Shields (or anything else for that matter) if you scroll down the page to the add-ons. If all you want is some stress tokens, perhaps you could get a buddy to add some to his for you? There are already a couple of folks doing that.

Anyone is welcome to contact me with questions or ideas. I'm still planning to design some more things based on community suggestions.

If only I had a buddy who could afford to get acrylics :P Right now, I JUST got my friends to start buying their own ships and everyone's dropping money on wave 4

I must admit it's been since last Christmas that I played X-Wing (Fantasy Flight just makes too many good games!)

How many ships use the cloak token? How many would you need during a typical game? I might be able to add a few to the set I've designed.

I'm waiting for someone to come up with a plastic large ship movement template. Seems like a must.

That's an excellent idea!

You mean like this?

With the release of Wave 4, cloak tokens are far more necessary (the Phantom will be popping in and out of cloak anytime it's tabled).

I think you could only field three Phantoms in a 100pt game. Maybe four.

Yeh, I'd say 4 cloak tokens is a great amount. Enough for a weird 100 point list, covering a buddy, or even epic. Three would probably work tho.

Also, those box inserts are darned cool, I'd love to see one that's a storage solution for the smaller cards, upgrades and damage and such.

2 or 3 would be fine. Also, they introduced energy and reinforce for the huge ships, but you might want to do those as add ons or as stretch goals or something.

I bought this a while back. It's perfect.
