Amherst, NH

By WargameHub, in X-Wing Organized Play

For those in southern NH and north central MA a new gaming store opened up in Amherst, NH about a month ago. It's a Myriad Games and has open gaming on Thursday nights. It's new so there aren't a lot of people playing yet but we are getting there (two of us currently playing X-wing).

Our goal is to get enough people to convince the store to start getting official tournaments going.

June 19th Recap

Location: Myriad Games, Amherst, NH

Game 1:

Austin

(25) Royal Guard Tie Interceptor with Push the Limit

(25) Royal Guard Tie Interceptor with Push the Limit

(25) Royal Guard Tie Interceptor with Push the Limit

(24) Omicron Group Lambda Shuttle with Ion Cannon

Todd - Winner

Wedge Antilles X-wing with Marksmanship

Rookie Pilot X-wing

B-wing

A-wing with Push the Limit

Todd's force and the Interceptors started in opposite corners, the shuttle near the center of my side. The Ints started off slow with the shuttle moving into a direct line with Todd's ships.

Turn 2 saw the first shooting with all of the shields and most of the hull gone from the shuttle and the shuttle responded by missing Wedge with the Ion Cannon. The Ints were still out of range.

Turn 3 the Ints closed with Wedge who had turned to meet them, Wedge died with nothing to show for it. However the shuttle also went up in a ball of fire.

The next few turns the A-wing got knocked down to one hull, two Interceptors got hurt badly and some shields were knocked out on the B-wing. Finally it was down to two Interceptors versus the B-wing and rookie X-wing. A long range shot from the B-wing dropped another Interceptor leaving one remaining with two hull points. I conceded.

Game 2:

Austin - Winner

(33) Dagger Squadron B-wing with Engine Upgrade, Ion Cannon, and Fire Control System

(33) Dagger Squadron B-wing with Engine Upgrade, Ion Cannon, and Fire Control System

(33) Dagger Squadron B-wing with Engine Upgrade, Ion Cannon, and Fire Control System

Todd

Sabre Squadron Tie Interceptor

Howlrunner with Swarm Tactics

Mauler Mithel

Tie Academy Pilot

Tie Academy Pilot

Tie Academy Pilot

Turn 1 had us almost in range to fire.

Turn 2 saw the Interceptor come in at an angle, the Tie swarm advancing, and the B-wings moving slowly ahead. The Interceptor shot at a B-wing taking out a shield and the B-wing shot back with a target lock taking out the Interceptor. The other two B-wings had target locks on Mauler Mithel. Other than a couple of shields down by the Tie Fighters the rest of the turn was uneventful.

Turn 3 saw Mauler and the Academy pilots overshoot the B-wings and Howlrunner hitting two B-wings and was just out of arc on the third B-wing. No shooting.

Turn 4 the Tie did a sharp right turn heading toward the middle of the board while the B-wings K-turned. Howlrunner didn't survive the volley.

Turn 5 the B-wings banked toward the middle and Howlrunner with one Academy pilot turned into them. The other two Tie Fighters had to move straight to avoid an asteroid. A few more shield were traded for Howlrunner.

Turn 6 saw the B-wings head toward the two Tie Fighters in the middle with the remaining Tie dropping in behind with a K-turn. A Tie explodes with the other hit. The B-wings lose a shield or two.

At this point we called the game, the weakest B-wing had a shield left, another with two shields, and the final one hadn't been hit at all.

We are going strong in Amherst, so far we have had one day in the last two months with no players (and that's back when it was just two of us).

We are picking up a new player every couple of weeks as people find out we are there.
