Corran Horn and YT-1300 build

By ExpatSmuggler, in X-Wing

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster.

I just got my Wave 4 stuff today and was playing around with a few squad ideas. A random thought I had was to try and come up with a build for a YT-1300, an E-Wing, and 2 Z-95's. This is what I've got:

Corran Horn: PTL, FCS, R2, and Engine Upgrade (45 pts)

Outer Rim Smuggler: Nien Nunb, Hull Upgrade? (31 pts)

2x Bandit Squadron pilots (2x 12 pts)

My thought was to use Corran as a flanker and keep the Bandits and the Smuggler in formation to concentrate fire. I'm not really set on the upgrades for the YT. I like Nunb for clearing stress, but that might not be so big an issue. For those 4 points would anything sound way better?

Any other good ideas for a YT-1300, E-Wing, and 2 Z-95's build?

Cheers.

Nice idea however your giving your enemy an easy first target. 45 points on a ship with 6 hp won't last long. After that i could see them picking off the bandits and the yt1300 may be what's left when times called or destroyed.

Oh and welcome to the forums :)

My take at present:

Corran + PTL + FCS + R7-T1

Chewie + Han + Title

Bandit

Total: 100

Edit: welcome!

Chewbacca (42)

+ Luke Skywalker (7)

+ Decoy (2)

+ Millenium Falcon (1)

Corran Horn (35)

+ Engine Upgrade (4)

+ R2-D2 (4)

+ Marksmanship (3)

+ Fire-Control System (2)

Without having played Corran, this is my current favorite build to try first. On firing turns, FCS + Marksmanship makes heavy damage to your target likely. On non-firing turns, R2-D2 + Engine Upgrade (or native Barrel Roll) allows you to get out of arcs and regenerate shields at the same time.

For Chewie, you can take the Evade action via MF title for extra survivability while Luke helps punch up the damage potential. Decoy lets you grab Corran's PS8 from wherever he's flown off to on turns Corran isn't shooting.

There are probably better builds for both ships, but I like the idea of a two-ship build (other than double-YTs) with a few upgrades that don't normally get a lot of love.

I actually like this quite a bit for a fun match. Two ships may prove to be a bit light though. Might give it a run and find out!

Gave this a run and loved it. Might try to practice and refine it for a later tournament.

Played a lost very similar to this last swiss round at the Georgia Regional this weekend. It was Han instead of Chewbacca with all of those upgrades plus marksmanship (typical HSF with Threepio), less points on Corran with marksmanship also. I played a rebel swarm, BXXZZZ. Tabled him in under 30 minutes. A lot of people I know complain about Threepio. My list decision was really because I expected a lot of Falcons because phantoms are really popular in my area. I had some early losses so I only saw the one falcon, but Threepio, just like I had hoped, couldn't defend against 20 dice. I chipped some his off Corran at range before I could reach Han, after the three attacks next turn, I nearly lost an X-Wing, but Corran bugged out and Han was out turn three and then it only took a few turns to get Corran back in my sights.

It has a lot of damage potential for two ships, but it's vulnerable to focus fire, as are a lot of kitted lists.

Wow, BXXZZZ, that is a pretty impressive Rebel swarm list, with 30 hit points. I wonder how it does against a 6-7 ship TIE swarm?

There some other tanky versions of the above build have been seen here and there.

Chewie(42)

Hull Upgrade(3)

C3PO(3)

Nien Nub(1)

Draw Their Fire(1)

MF Title(1)

Corran Horn(35)

PushTL(3)

Sensor Jammer(4)

R2-F2(3) OR R5-P9

99 points.

Chewie ignores crits so he can grab them off of the more fragile Corran. And he can clear stress by getting the heck out of dodge if he's surrounded. Chewie can evade for 1 token plus a guaranteed 1 evade via 3PO and rolling 1 die. (predict '0'). Hull upgrade because again, it's Chewie.

Corran takes his double shot turns or he can turtle up with 5 green plus focus and evade with PTL and down converts a hit to a focus with Sensor Jammer. Or swap out R2-F2 for R5-P9 so he can repair his shields with a focus which gives him more dial options to reposition.

Still it's a two ship list with all that implies. And no matter how many greens you have...blank greens ruin your day. My game last weekend had me rolling 4+3+3 green dice. All were blanks.

If you want to run the Z-95's, why don't you run Etahn instead of Horn. If you fly them in formation, that will make each of them convert a hit to a crit, which is great against shieldless TIE's. It will also free up three points, two of which you can use on Fire Control System to keep Ethan locked on targets. Or you could upgrade the Bandits to Talas and move up in the firing order.

Here's the build I made based on these suggestions and your ships...

Etahn A'baht (32)
Marksmanship (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
R5-P9 (3)

Outer Rim Smuggler (27)
Chewbacca (4)
C-3PO (3)

C-3PO is a hard card to get. You might alter for something else to give you a little more defense, like Stealth Device or Shield Upgrade.

Hopefully, that's helpful.
