What Wave 6 Needs to Add to the Game

By Boundary, in X-Wing

Wave 6 needs to include this 4 specific ships. The theme being X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter

IMPERIALS:

In addition to these ships, each expansion should contain a pilot card for a Large Ship from previous waves. These pilot cards will be the opposite team of their given faction. As we have seen in games like X-Wing and TIE Fighter, the game included such ships as the Lambda but designated to the rebels. The YT-1300 were also used by Empire friendly smugglers.

Perhaps also, there could be a unique pilot and one non-unique pilot per ship expansion pack: example: Lambda Class Shuttle card called "Shuttle Tydirium"

The idea of a YT-1300 being escorted by a 4 TIE flight is very intriguing.

I agree with you on the ships, those four are my top ones. Not convinced by the large ship idea. Would be nice to see a Tydirium title for the Lambda though.

What FFG needs to do is take a year off and focus on what they've already got. Creating new pilots and upgrades for existing ships would go a lot further than pulling increasingly more obscure ships out of the EU, and I think we can all agree that the Y-Wing and TIE Advanced could use some love.

I'm happy with the way the game is right now, and we still have two more releases to look forward to - and that's not even counting wave 4, which I have yet to receive. Let me play with those for several months before FFG does another flyby on my wallet.

I would like to see some turrets, floating in the space, no move but could change direction they are facing. It would be interesting

I'm not sure the game needs anything right now other than something for the Advanced and perhaps an opportunity for the Empire to field some huge ships of their own.

What the game needs now is love.

Sweet love.

I agree with Ork, although a year may be too long. Creating more diversity in pilots rather than introducing new ships would go alot further to diversifying local meta. The game mechanics and format are sound and adding more ships may dilute the player pool. Publishing some supplemental pilot decks & some unique or interesting but optional terrain may better enhance the game without punishing the wallets of shoppers that are compulsive about buying 2+ of every blister put out.

Perhaps adding another round of Huge ships or even a late Q3/Q4 round of Large ships that are built to play more in the Epic arena rather than standard may be a decent way to go about it.

Personally, I'd like to see some more space mine or rules for Planet gravity or even some more scenarios that can really enhance the experience rather than "blow up your enemy".

I'd rather they didn't start to allow Rebels to fly Imperial craft or Imperials to fly Rebel craft. This stuff happens in Star Trek: Attack Wing and you almost never see faction pure fleets. All flavor in the game is sucked out. I think it would be a disaster.

If they want to release a fringe faction that either player can "hire" I'd be fine with that though.

i was a huge fan of apocalypse in 40k, i would love to see that translated over to x-wing in the form of bigger capitol ships and playing on 5x12 playing area.

so i would like to see some of the smaller capitol ships from the empire, not as big as a stardestroyer but bigger than the CR90.

even a space station for the empire with gun emplacements

i am one of those guys that likes to see all my stuff on the table once in awhile

it would be something like apocalypse no?

The Rebels don't actually NEED anything more. They have really good options in all price brackets. The K-wing seems to be a shoe-in for the next rebel ship because it is unlike anything else in the game currently.

The imperials have a big hole in the mid-range price bracket (21-25) with the ships they currently have being Advanced, Shuttle, ordnance bombers, and ptl interceptor. They don't need to have dominance here like the rebels but they really do need a solid workhorse here. Buffing the Tie Advanced would help but it will never be an offensive powerhouse. The assault gunboat will be really great if it comes to 25 or less with an HLC.

The assault gunboat looks sharp.

Those ships are ugly.

I don't agree on breaking factions by allowing the other side to fly its opposing ships.

What Wave 6 needs to do, or FFG in general, is to promote different formats/leagues of play for more diverse tournament play by either reprinting ships with supporting upgrades or making new support ships for different missions. Going epic is a step in the right direction, but when regionals only host 100 point or escalation tournaments, the game becomes bland and creates a definitive cutthroat competition limiting the strategy of squad building.

What about BH's ships, like IG-2000???, I really wait for this, greettings.

That gunboat is going to make one badass mini !

It just needs more id tokens

I'm good with the gunboat, but everything else...no. Those two rebel ships are hideous, not to mention unfamiliar to many. I get that they're dipping into EU, but they can only go so far before alienating players. The Avenger has been tossed around more than a few times, but I'm still not sold. I'd rather see the TIE Droid.

And I'm especially not fond of having ships switch sides. Realism makes for a bad game. I already get bored watching mirror matches. It lacks something. Having both sides with the same ships is just a bad idea.

I would like to see more pilots for Tie Bombers, Tie Advance and the Lambda Shuttle. I would to see maybe some Advance Tie Bombers, Maybe one that can have a crew member, (Flight Instructor). And for the shuttle maybe a crew member that can equip the shuttle with a pilot upgrade. Just Saying.

I'd like to see some good low cost workhorses, perhaps some bomber pilots like Saber Squadron (low PS but with an EPT for some cheap variety) so that we can use more stuff alongside the Defender and Phantom. Right now you're basically limited to 2-3 ship lists or cheap TIEs.

Tie Avenger and Gunboat? Yes please!

Here is some info that could help create the stats for the Avenger..

"Defenses

Coinciding with the trend of improved quality in Imperial starfighters, the Avenger was equipped with deflector shields. In 3 ABY, it's shields were equivalent to the Assault Gunboat and twice that of the T-65 X-wing starfighter.[1]

Like earlier TIE series fighters, the Avenger's great speed and agility coupled with its small size made it a difficult target. In a similar precedent, the Avenger's armor plating was marginal, affording only as much protection as the TIE Interceptor. However, the inclusion of deflector shields meant that the Avenger would not fall prey to stray debris or laser fire that claimed unshielded TIEs, and with its shields at full power the Avenger was exceptionally difficult to destroy. The succeeding Defender, while still remarkably fast and agile as the Avenger, relied more heavily on shields because its triple wing design gave opponents a larger profile.[1]"

But... but what about Sentinel?

Sure it would probably be somewhere like 50-60 points a pop, but I would use it!

More because in the old canon I read, it was the imperial work horse, not the lambda.

Man, I can only dream of a ship with 3 crew slots and a turret slot.

They should add the possibility for a playable 1 ship list.

Make two ship lists playable (probably large ships)

Make sure wave 4/5/aces isn't OP

Some love for underperforming ships

You can come pretty close with a Devastator (77 points, by my calculations).

I honestly expected the Avenger to be released before the Defender. But now I wonder how you can squeeze the stats and dials for an Avenger between the Defender, Interceptor and Advanced and still make It unique? I guess this conundrum is what I was referring to in my thread about pushing the game limits too far. Is there really room in the stats and dial spectrum for a TIE Avenger?

And gawd I think the TIE Defender is the ugliest and dumbest looking SW ship yet designed. The aesthetics of the TIE/D is a pretty polarizing issue for SW fans. I just happen to fall on the ugly camp. And now I don't see how there is room to make an Avenger.

The same for gunboat. Is there stat and dial room to cover what I thought should have been released before the Lambda? **** those things took forever to kill in the online game... maybe I can see stats of 3/1/4/6 with two missile slots.

The game needs more pilots, and more love for the Y and Advanced (although proton rockets give a shout out to the latter). I'd personally like to see some "electronic warfare" platforms made from the Y, turbo laser batteries for a neoprene trench run mat, and at least a huge imperial like the gozanti.

What the game needs now is love.

Sweet love.

It is the only thing that there's just too little of...
