Not a big deal but worth noting

By macar, in X-Wing

In rebel aces the new TL's have AA, BB, CC, DD. While I don't have a solution off the top of my head....does anyone else have a better idea for target locks identification? I can't imagine ever needed more than the Season 1 Tl's but needing a double alphabets worth to me doesn't seem plausible.

I imagine its just to fill the space on the inserts. They could leave it blank, or include more locks/id/etc, and so why not? :)

I look forward to finishing a game, by spending the GG target lock.

Each expansion comes with everything that ship needs to be playable. That means if the ship can TL it has to include those tokens. 2 ships, it needs 2 sets of tokens. But they can't duplicate the IDs on the tokens, if someone buys just 2 expansion packs and they both happen to come with the M/N TL tokens, the player wouldn't be able to play with both ships at the same time without some confusion.

Yeah, the core set really has enough different ones that it probably would never be an issue in practice, but they want to avoid any possibility of confusion. So the TL tokens and pilot ID tokens continuously get incremented with each new release.

Besides, you never know when you might lose one.

I would have liked to see the Greek Alphabet, or perhaps the Star Wars one.

Would have gone for numbers myself. No upper limit that way.

I use "Really Useful Boxes" (that actually their brand name) to store my stuff.

Little Ships:

Big Ships

Huge Ships

And then I store them all in a gun case from Canadian Tire. I use these little boxes as I put everything that comes with a ship in the box with it. So dials, stands, tokens, damage cards for the huge ships. Whenever I need a ship, I pull out the box, dump it on the table and I have all the stuff that I need to run it. The only thing I dont store in those boxes are the pilot and upgrade cards.

So I dont mind they add a double alphabet for target locks. I pop the tokens from the sheet directly into my boxes. :)

I just had to go back and look after reading this thread. Yes, I have too much time...

The core set and Wave 1 accounted for most of the alphabet - Core set A-L, X-Wing M-P, Y-Wing Q-R, Advanced S-V. Interestingly, the YT-1300 and Firespray didn't have TL tokens included, though they can perform the action. W-X came with the A-Wing in Wave 2, and the alphabet was completed by including Y-Z with the HWK-290 in Wave 3. Other Wave 3 ships started duplicating letters after the Core set - M-N for the Lambda, O-P for the Bomber, and S-T for the B-Wing. Q-R was reissued with the Tantive, and U-V came out again in the Transport. Now for wave 4 we complete the second half of the alphabet again with W-X in the Defender, and Y-Z in the Phantom. Then we start back again with M-N in the Z-95, and O-P with the E-Wing. With Rebel Aces they are apparently breaking the established pattern, which avoids further duplication and is probably a good thing.

I really don't know why it took them so long to figure out that they could go with the double letters.

I am planning to do something crafty like a Darth Vader mosaic or something with them someday. Or maybe play Target Lock Scrabble.
