How much money have you spent on X-Wing?

By Ribann, in X-Wing

Roughly speaking, how much money have you dropped on this game?

All my ships, tackle boxes, 3-ring binder, plastic pocket sheets for cards, card sleeves, game mats/boards, money to enter tournaments....I've spent approx.....

~$487

inb4 "too much"

EDIT: I remembered I had purchased Team Covenant Templates, so add ~$30 to my ~$457 total.

Edited by Ribann

$457 is just a scratching on the surface.

.....you made me do the math

i have about 1000$ wrapped in ships
(core set, CR90, trasport and allsmall and medium ships)

then there is travel and tourny entries in KS, MO, NE, MN
Litko templates, 50$ tacklebox

Soooooo 1400$.......

I'm upset now.....

Too much, not enough.

I would estimate around $700 but its probably closer to 800 with all the storage boxes and various other little related purchases

I would say you could keep your investment below $300 and have everything you "need"

Closing in on $2000 after supplies are added, and still not even close to done

$570 at miniature market prices, which is more or less accurate after some averaging. Another $60 or so on Plano stuff to carry, and I guess we could add the $80 I paid for the mats which will basically only be for X-Wing. So seems like $710. May as well make that $810 for wave 4. Oof. Ah well, worth it.

Looking at your sig, why would anyone buy 12 TIE Phantoms unless to give them to friends, resell them, or display an un-opened one in your home?

Some people like to army-build. I bet his fleet looks super cool displayed.

In other news, I like to be able to divert attention to his signature when someone asks why I have 14 TIE Interceptors...

Roughly at $550 Can for base game & expansions, plus I've pledged about £85 (with overseas shipping) for a game mat kickstarter which is almost $140 Can. Good friend gave me an electician's toolbox for storage, no cost there. All in for about $700 (Canadian. I keep mentioning that 'cuz our dollar is worth 85 - 90¢ American, and all our FFG products come up from our friendly neighbours to the south so our average prices are higher)*(and also because I like reminding people we exist. Outside of the winter Olympics.

Too much,not enough.

Just, about right for me. I would like a third Y wing, who wouldn't, and I'm planning what wave 4 things will be combined to get me free shipping from MM. I can field pretty well any 100 point list I want and the ships it will fight against.

I am wondering if wave 4 will mean a sixth Plano box. They are starting to pile up.

As of this month $1,969. This figure is correct because all I had to do to get it is take a quick look at my purchase records at the various shops I buy from.

The two grand includes a steel shelving unit and a pair of very nice heavy duty folding tables, which I got just to store the game materials and to have an excellent play area.

:D

I am not including other gear like paint, glues, putties, storage cases, and other hobby gear because I am using that for STAW and my Star Blazers, as well as X-Wing. The two grand figure covers things that I purchased just for X-Wing, before I added STAW & Star Blazers to my new game goodies.

TOYS!

Does this include custom ships from Shapeways?

Judgeing by the fact that my builds are still gimped because I havn't bought a solo Tie and X wing not near enough, should of done a little more research and not bought the Transport. Plus the 3 Ys was just silly.

But really a small drop in the bucket compared to the Fortune I've givin GW over the years( 2000pts+ Marines, IG, and Orcs).

Best guess $350 so far, but on Thursday I'm guessing it'll be about $100 more, not counting The Rebel Aces I'll need to get hopefully befor Gen Con.

Well, I just spent $200 on Wave 4 ships, which I think pushes me over the $1000 mark...

~$1067 for all ships announced so far. That doesn't include tournament entry fees (or gas to Omaha and Milwaukee), but does include all my ships, Applied Perspectives orders, and my Battlefoam case.

Don't ask. Every time someone asks me that, I punch them and tell them to shut up and appreciate that I'm sharing my fun game.

Right about $2000, if counting what I'm spending on Wave 4 preorders, with cases and some acrylic tokens added in too.

Man, forgot about GW for a minute. Compared to that, this game is dirt cheap. Total for Warhammer et al over the last 15 years is at a rough estimate several orders of magnitude higher (that's math talk for a lotta $$$$s).

You CAN build cheapish Warhammer armies, its just alot harder and depends very much on the army. I know IG can easily hit over $1,000 due to all the tanks you will buy. However, I just built a 97 model Dark Elf army for only $400.

As to the question of this thread, 4x Ties, 4x Interceptors, 1x Advanced, 2x Bombers, 3x Phantoms, 3x Defenders, 1x Shuttle, 1x Firespray. I believe thats around $315.

~$500-600

Still a lot more bang for my buck than Games Workshop ravaging my wallet.

I've spent around 250$.

I'm also in the $200-250 range, I think.

I don't have too much, bought a good number at half price second hand. Most of my new purchases have been from the FLGS.

if you choose only one side, you will save some money...

play with friends (no need of multiple copies of the same upgrade) and you'll save some money...

buy with a friend a second core set so you will have more ships spending less...

buy what you think you will need...

it is just funny not mandatory to have 4 x-wing... 3 are ok... the same for others ships...

obviously this is just my opinion!

currently I've spent almost 360$ (considering wave 4 preorder), having a lot of ships of both factions !

Think I'm upto around £450 including acrylics, storage etc, then a further £160 ish on tournaments including hotel for uk open.

Sold some of the prizes for £320 total.

Still so much cheaper than GW that I keep thinking of things to buy that I probably won't ever use/ need!

Edit: this is also more expensive for uk gamers at £12 a small ship, £25 large ship, £30 core set

£100 = $170 approx
