It's "On the Boat" could take on a whole other meaning ...

I will proby take junk for this but I like Fox a lot more then Hammer and Sickle err msnbc/cnn/abc

Just don't depend on only one news source. All the news in all the world is at your fingertips, in every bias available. Don't stick with the ones who agree with you, you might miss something important.

Good point. I don't just listen watch or listen to fox, in fact with how robust Facebook is news comes at you from everywhere. And I love my local talk radio stations that deal more with city and local issues then major ones. Most of the time I will check all 4 mainstream outlets, theblaze, katuko, rockpapershotgun, am news and fm news, then talk to my friends overseas and check sky news and last read the two local papers here. I think I get a good balance in there.

I have multiple shipping containers in the water right now all coming into either LA, Oakland AND for the sake of this thread and good measure, NYC and Boston. Nothing in that article has affected my incoming merch and timelines. AND the biggest and most constant threat to wave 4 (which probably isn't on a boat right now anyway), is getting held up in customs because of chance inspection or iffy paperwork (probably not an FFG concern considering the scale and experience of the staff importing).

stuff like this drives me crazy, I think people care too much when they start analyzing the supply chains of a company and taking on false expertise to justify something FFG is doing. People do it with magic the gathering analyzing offset print run lead times all the time and its equally annoying.

Start feeding a little news.bbc.co.uk in there. Not only for another perspective but also for different subjects that you might miss out on.

All politics are local, but all news is global.

The potential strike on the west coast may have a big rippling impact on the still fragile global economy with shipping delays and higher tariffs.

Last thought I still listen to what others have to say even if I disagree with them.

Example like how I think the Hwk-290 is a terrible ship or ep1-3 have a place to exist with in our world.

I check cnn once a week or so. I'll hear about the important stuff from other people anyway. :P

Just watch the Colbert Report. It's probably more accurate than most news on TV and the Internet, right?

It is good to see how the rest of the world views is, I don't put much stock in it but it's good.

I'm a news junkie, I follow most major international news outlets and a bunch of journalists on Twitter (kicked CNN off though, because of their focus on showbiz over hard news on there, same for huffpo), and when a story breaks or piques my interest I tend to go and find local sources or ones with different viewpoints.

Well, it can give you a nice reality check and all countries need each other, knowing what's going on and why will help make sense and let you predict trends.

I work in social services. If i went home and looked at the shape the whole world was in after seeing the shape the local riffraff are in every day I'd probably break somewhere. It's a big depressing world, finding the joy in it requires avoiding the largely negative news.

this is why i game,

it allows me to escape the world of reality for a little while

Fox new is better than MSLSD, bunch of hippies

It does seem some trouble is looming:

I've never understood how the US (and french, among a few others) unions can be so antagonistic they'd rather destroy a business than compromise. The unions in the Netherlands are far more engaged in ensuring the best worker conditions in viable companies.

In the US they have to be, to be taken seriously. In the US it is all or nothing. Win or lose. Unions are one of few places were normal workers in the US make decent wages. We have the largest income disparity in the world and it is no coincidence that this has coincided with the drop in unions in the US. If you don't fight for it here you won't get anything.

I wonder how much the average longshoreman takes in per year. The salary is listed in the article at about 100k/year for a full-time longie, which sounds good. But the impression I'm getting after doing a bit of checking around is that longshoreman hours are a bit erratic. Sometimes there is a lot of stuff to load/unload, sometimes there isn't. So some weeks there is a lot of work and hours to be had, but other weeks there aren't. The averages are what really matters here.

So I'm not convinced that $100k is a typical salary. The average salary could be lower, or higher; that could mean a lot for the question of whether a strike is or isn't justified.

Thank you ... thank all of you ... reading the responses to my opening salvo put a huge smile on my face.

I was just having some fun (tongue in cheek :P ) given the amount of threads that have been sweating:

1) When will we possibly get Wave 4 - it's been like effing at least 10+ years ... errr ... no months ... errr ... weeks ...

2) When will we possibly get Rebel Aces and Wave 5 and 6 and 7 and 8 and ... :D

I figured if I threw in the chance of supply chain issues, poor Cubanboy won't be able to get out of bed in the morning ...

:D :D :D Fox News is the closest you will come to an honest news network in America. I have to go to foreign sources to find out what is going on in my own country. You really have to dig to get the real story on just about anything these days. Journalists used to dig up facts to share with the rest of but now they try to hide anything that goes against the status quo. What a joke

Wave 4 gets here when it gets here.

According to one of my accounting professors its because businesses in the Netherlands work with the unions and make decisions based on what is best for everyone, stockholder, employees, and customers, while businesses in the United States work only on the premise of maximizing returns, which often results in policy that is not as good for the employees.

I think Cubanboy knows that I just like to give him a hard time, and he takes it well. Anyone with a genuine problem is always welcome to send me a private message, provided they keep the expletives to themselves.
