Star Wars meets "Kill Bill" (a Tarantino adventure)

By OggDude, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Thought I'd share a session we had this weekend. There was a recent topic that talked about what Star Wars would be like if Quentin Tarantino directed it :) That spurred some creative juices on my part, so I linked one of the PCs origin with a crime syndicate that resembled the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad from Kill Bill :) It turned out that even though nobody had seen Kill Bill (I couldn't believe it!!), they loved session, and were able to complete it without even having a combat encounter!!

What started this is that the PCs were going to Nar Shaddaa for the current adventure. Since the group's mechanic had recently fled Nar Shaddaa for... unknown reasons... I decided to write a short three page story that explained what happened. The short of it is that she created a MacGuffin that she couldn't duplicate and was really useful to the Deadly Dragon crime syndicate (headed up by none other than Billba the Hutt :)), and hid it from the syndicate before fleeing the moon.

After the group arrived, it didn't take long before the Deadly Dragons discovered she was back. They sent Gralus "Lips" Seneb to talk to the PCs. He was extremely loosley based on Sofie Fatale. He was a Sullustan who spoke Basic with a blub-blub sound, which I acted out to everyone's amusement. I also played Elle Driver's whistle before they met him, as an intro :) He set up a meeting between the PCs and Orai Ishila (a twi'lek, based on O-Ren Ishii, Lucy Liu's character) at her club, the "House of Blue Milk" (instead of Blue Leaves) :) I made this place very weird, having a Bantha cub in a force cage in the middle, having disco lights, a house band, and drinks made from blue milk. Ishila was a Nemesis and had a beefed-up vibro greatsword, among other skills and talents. I also had Jonami Oh (Johnny Mo), the Weequay leader of the Psycho 66 (Crazy 88's), who sported two vibroswords or two auto-fire blasters that he could swap out on his back as an incidental. And, of course, Orai had her faithful bodyguard, Gola U'bria (Gogo Yubari), a psychotic Tagrutan teen with a really nasty modified bola with razors on the chain. The Psycho 66's, of course, were minions, all Weequays with black masks, vibroswords, and blaster rifles. I found and modified some very cool looking images for them all, including a picture of a deranged Togrutan girl someone did on Deviant Art, I'm guessing based on an insane Ahsoka Tano (it totally fit the bill).

Every time a character was introduced, I played the "Ironsides" song from the soundtrack, the same one played whenever the Bride saw another of her nemeses. When the group came into the House of Blue Milk, an upstairs door opened and Ishila's gang made their entrance, with the same music playing as in the movie. Since they'd never seen the movie (!!), I played the actual scene for them from YouTube when O-Ren walks into the House of the Blue Leaves with her entourage.

The whole thing was so cinematic and Tarantino-esque, that the players almost wet their pants when they saw these freaks, especially followed by 10 Psycho 66's :) The mechanic, who was totally panicking, actually managed to stand up to Orai who was about to order an attack. So, her gang parted and in came Billba the Hutt, floating on a repulsor-lift harness (Baron Harkonnen, anyone?) with a massive vibro-ax strapped to his back. I had "Lips" translate for him (for further amusement). Billba was so impressed with how the group managed to handle the MacGuffin (there was more to the adventure, of course; I'm giving the highlights) so that everyone was a winner, that he let the mechanic slide, provided that she never had any contact with the syndicate again. Of course, Billba got the MacGuffin :) and the mechanic left with her life.

Even my wife, who isn't very comfortable roleplaying, had a great time with this. And I'm hoping that the other players will now want to watch Kill Bill :)

*slow clap*

Obi-Wan: "You know what they put on protato wedges on Zeltros instead of sernpidalian?"

Mace: "No, what?"

Obi-Wan: "Uj'ayl."

Mace: "Yuck!"

Obi-Wan: "I know! I've seen 'em do it man, they drown 'em in that poodoo!"

(I'm sorry  )

Mucho kudos OggDude!! That sounds incredible... Quality stuff & I'll second that slow clap

I thought a slow clap was an insult? Like a sarcastic "well done"?

Edit: It is! You guys are poor forum buddies! For shame! :o

Certainly not how it was intended... A slow clap can represent considered appreciation

I'm messing with ya. I don't really think you're a poor forum buddy. ;)

I gathered that but (in the words of Bob Mortimer)... I couldn't let it lie

Being a poor forum buddy was not my intention.

I took it as a compliment :) No poor forum buddies here.
