Wow, those proton rockets are gonna be strong. Might even revitalise the venerable Tie Advanced. Given that the Awing loses the Chaardan with ordinance hence making their actual cost 5, the Tie Advanced is probably the best ship for the rockets

One spot, based on the bottom pic, the new PS5 Bwing has EPT!

In talking it over on our local FB group, we're thinking Stealth Device would count for the +1 Agility. The wording on the card doesn't have any other qualifiers for adding the additional agility point (other than you lose it if you get hit by an attack).

Suddenly, Scimitar TIE Bombers with 2x Proton Rockets + Stealth Device for 25 points looks really good...

Suddenly, Scimitar TIE Bombers with 2x Proton Rockets + Stealth Device for 25 points looks really good...

It is still a Range 1 weapon, a good opponent will strip your Stealth Device before you get into Range of launching the rocket, or just launching it with your fast PS2 initiative.

Seems balanced as far as gameplay, but makes advanced protons seem way overcosted by comparison.

APTs have a very high chance of five hits. Proton Rockets also require an A-wing, TIE defender or TIE advanced (the three ships most often accused of being overpriced) for full awesome, stick them on a TIE bomber, Firespray or Z-95 and you reduce their viability to a level in line with other rockets.

Herm... A wing @ R1 = 2 attack... + PR = 5... + Opp + Jan = 7 Attack dice.

But, even better...

Gemmer @ R1 (or any other A w/ SD) (2) + PR (3) + Expose (1) + Opp (1) + Jan (1) = 8 Attack dice! HOT DAWG!

So I can shoot you at range one with my Proton Rockets for a 4 dice attack... or use my Primary Attack for a 4 dice attack... though choice... Why did I pay 3 points for the Rockets again?

And an A wing w/ PR (5 dice) with TL+F = 4.69 hits. An APT = 4.98 hits. But with just the F, PR = 3.75 hits... Still not too bad considering they basically cost 5 points on an A wing (3 - -2).

You'd shoot me at R1 for 6 dice with PR...

Proton Rocket (2) + Agility (3) + Expose (0, since it is only for Primary) + Opportunist (1) + Jan (1) = 7 dice

Yeah, ignore my mentioning... I had a complete brain fart when I read the PR card and thought it was adding dice to your primary attack (thus why I was off by 1 die)... not making a secondary attack... It's been a long morning already.

Ships that benefit the most from the PR:

1- A-Wing and Tie Advanced (attack 2, agility 3): Raise their range 1 attack from 3 to 5 dice

2a- Z-95, YT-2400 and Tie Bomber (attack 2, agility 2): Raise their range 1 attack from 3 to 4 dice

2b- Tie Defender (attack 3, agility 3): Raise their range 1 attack from 4 dice to 5

3-Firespray (attack 3, agility 2): keep your range 1 attack at 4 dice

4-YT-1300 (attack 3, agility 1): drop your range 1 attack from 4 to 3 dice

4 x Green Squadron + Proton Rockets + PtL will make for a tricksey hit and run squad...

You get 2 Proton Rockets with Rebel Aces (maybe 3, since there is a missile card facedown, but my guess is a third refit) and 1 with the YT-2400.

We do get 2. You can see both in the card fan.

These pilots and upgrades even the playing field...

I'd be willing to try flying a TIE Advanced or two with Proton Rockets. Might do OK.

Colonel Vessery with a Proton Rocket might be pretty nice, too.

That Proton Rocket packaged with the TIE Avenger. Make it happen!

Outrider with HLC can get a single range 1 attack at 4 dice (for even more points) if the pilot is worried about their donut.

Personally, I'd rather have a third rocket than refit.
