Vessery de Gamma (List idea)

This might be my first Defender build. Could be a lot of good synergy with the bombers and Vessery's ability.

Gamma's are a high enough to be effective against rookies and academy pilots, so hopefully get the bombs off in a good spot. (I love the bombs.)

Perhaps drop the shield upgrade and 2 Munitions Failsafes to upgrade to proton bombs? Cluster + Munitions Failsafe is pointless...

haha you have a point. I actually had proton bombs instead of munitions failsafes and shield upgrade initially.

Vessery and Predator is a bad combo for two reasons:

one, Vessery can rely on other TLs to get his free TL and so he can basically re-roll all his attack dice all the time;

two, as per rulebook page 12 you can only re-roll each dice once per opportunity (this is different from TL+F since Focus isn't a re-roll) so Predator and TL don't stack

EDIT:

I'd actually opt to scratch both the HLC and Predator on Vessery and move for range 2-3 ordinance on the bombers ... 10 points will get you an assault missle or a concussion missile and munitionsfailsafe on each

Very true. What would a good alternative EPT be? Or maybe a Stealth device or hull upgrade instead?

I dunno, HLC on TIE Defenders is pretty good. Scratching Predator is probably a good idea, though.

VI maybe. Outmanuever probably.

Squad leader could be interesting at least for first engagement to ensure one bomber gets a TL. Not sure if it would be worth it over the course of a whole game though. Other than that Veteran Instincts seems most useful. Marskmanship and out maneuver seem OK.

Agree with VI on Vessery, to get that K turn off after almost everyone has moved is good. Been trying to build a list around him too with bombers, think it needs 4 ships.

No initiative bit here. But once Vesserys behind he can keep them Ionised with the missiles to kick it off. Could change out Howl for another bomber or Tie with Targetting computer?

I'm unconvinced on the HLC on the Defender being a good idea, not been fond of the HLC at all

As for EPT on Vessery:

Vessery is an optinmal flanker especially in conjunction with Bombers which have been a good lure in the past, so he would most benefit from Outmanouver. Marksmanship is another option though if you stick to the HLC it will depend on the ruling if the HLC text is resolved before Marksmanship (I can't find it right now).

Squad Leader would require Vessery to remain in formation with the bombers which isn't where is used best (see above). Veteran Instincts on him is a question of personal preference and local meta, so it can't be really answered in general terms.
