No new features this time round, I'm afraid but I have been making quite a few changes to my Squadron Builder to try and speed it up a bit.
I have compressed the CSS stylesheets (using SASS ). They're now half the size so will download faster. It also helps me keep on top of the increasingly complex styling.
I have turned all the icons into a single CSS sprite (using Compass ). Instead of loading all 250+ image files individually, you just download one image. This is faster because your browser not only makes fewer requests but the big image is less than half the size that all the small images were.
FInally, I have managed to figure out the Dojo Build tool which does mysterious but wonderful things to Javascript (compressing it, joining together multiple files, removing dead code branches, scattering it with magic fairy dust). Now it is much smaller (under half the size again) and instead of loading 50+ separate files for the app, you just load a handful which also speeds things up.
Anyway, please let me know if you find any bugs. I've had to rewrite a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff to get all this to work properly so wouldn't be surprised if some errors had snuck in, too.
I hope you like%
