Nemesis time.

Soon I will be running Beyond the Rim, then Jewel of Yavin, then most likely transitioning into AoR. We are actually before ep4, and the plan is to run AoR through the OT. I'm wanting to add my Nemesis then. I'm toying with the idea of Blackhole as their personal BBEG. Just looking for comments, critiques and ideas. Just toss in whatever you've got.

If you want to use one of the villains who went as codename Blackhole you can find a hotbed of material on Wookiepedia. I use it often to mine tons of in-universe ideas to flesh out memorable villains who tie the PCs into the actual Star Wars lore. Of course, most of what is on Wookiepedia is considered legends now so I'd suggest using it if you are incorporating the EU into your games.

A great nemesis for Edge of the Empire could be a relentless ISB agent of the heroes' tails, a lieutenant for one of the Black Sun crime bosses they find themselves in debt to, or a bounty hunter they crossed in the completion of some heroic task.

In my game I have a few nemesis's planned. One is Jodo Kast (I plan on running them through "Tatooine Manhunt" early in the campaign), another is a Black Sun agent, and thirdly Baron Kaldo from "Suns of Fortune". The plot lines layer on top of one another so each nemesis becomes a known force perhaps once a month, presenting the heroes with various looming shadows to motivate their adventures. I rattled all that off just to point out that you can research many fine nemesis NPCs (or make some up) to make up a tapestry of dark forces that the heroes either strive against or are on the run from.

Cool idea for a BBEG! Especially if any of your players are familiar with that slice of the EU. Even if they aren't, still a cool idea :)

My thoughts, though, are mostly with your expected transition from EotE to AoR. Make sure your players want the transition to happen. It requires a decent amount of buy-in from your players to switch from a smuggler-themed game to a military-themed game. I would present them with the idea beforehand, say after you've run a few sessions. Tell them you'd like for the party to get more involved in the Rebel Alliance, etc.

Also it wouldn't hurt for the majority of your PCs (not necessarily all of them) to have a good reason to join the Rebellion, from a motivational or obligatory standpoint. You could convert some Obligations to Duties if appropriate, etc.

Both have good points I forgot to clarify.

Yes, I'm definitely giving them the option to stay on Edge course or go Age. My story in my head can work either way.

We had an ISB agent who was harassign them for quite a while, but a lucky shot and a wild animal made him meet his maker in our last session.

I don't think many in our group know of Blackhole, so going the mysterious, behind the curtain, uber creepy route is how I want to go, whith lots of discovery on the way.

Hmm. If they agree to go on to Age, you could try something like this:

The death of the ISB agent got Blackhole's attention, and now he wants to either utilize or eliminate these potential threats. Over the final few gaming sessions in Edge, have the players get a few clues about the master manipulator pulling the strings, but nothing solid. After they join the Rebellion, one of the Rebel cell's leaders doesn't trust the players, feeling that they are agents of the Empire. This is compounded by the fact that they succeed at every task they are assigned (because that's just what PCs do, for better or worse). Eventually he comes up with "proof" that the PCs really are working for the Empire (actually false evidence planted by Blackhole) and attempts to court-martial the PCs (excellent RP material here). Once the evidence is proved to be a fake, the only logical person to have forged the proof is the person who presented it; he is dishonorably discharged and forcibly ousted from the Rebellion for "sowing discord in the ranks." Dissolutioned (and still feeling as of the PCs are truly Imperial spies), it is then that Blackhole makes his appearance to this man, saying that he too wants the PCs brought to justice, and proposes an alliance. Now you have the BBEG and his "lieutenant" nemesis.

Squeeeee! I'm liking. I will definitely be saving that. Thanks!
