Crew and Astromech in combination?

By berusplants, in X-Wing

With each new wave we get ships with new combinations of upgrades.

Wave 2 gave us crew, wave 3 the System upgrade and now Wave 4 has brought us the first ship with EPT + System upgrade and Astromech, in the form of the Ewing, and we are still working through all the potential combinations that throws up (the {same goes for the Phantom's EPT, SU and Crew too)

What no ship has thus far is Astromech and Crew Slots. Given the Droids and Crew cards out there already do you think this is ever going to come about? With all the recent new Astromechs and crew there are some interesting combinations. R2 plus Niet Numb could give a ship an Interceptor type dial for only 2 pts. Recon Specialist plus R5-P9 would be pretty awesome, but at 6 points would it be broken?

What combos would you like to be able to play, or which combos would be too broken to ever be allowed?

R7 plus Weapons Engineer.

I think this is the likely Aces style mod for the Y-wing when we eventually see it. Even though it is the same as the B-wing/E mod it does throw up some different and interesting combos.

If they ever make an ARC-170 it would be a perfect opportunity to have a crew and astromech on the same ship.

having said that I think Recon Specialist + R5-P9 is an obvious choice (esspecially if you could do it more than once but Im pretty sure its a 1 time per turn trigger)

had to google ARC170. Not a fan of the prequels, but I do rather like that fighter, and as you say it seems to have a crew and astromech.

Think the R5p9 is once per round, but with 2 focus' could be most rounds, if needed.

R7 is once per round as well, but one rounds action could be used over two, so pretty handy for the points.

A cool ship from the rebellion era with the ability to have both crew member and astromech droid would be Dengars Punishing One, A Jumpmaster 5000 modified with a quad-blaster cannon operated by an R2 unit. The Jumpmaster had room for one passenger :

A nice combo combo would be R7 with weapons engineer....

Though the ARC-170 only features in the prequel trilogy is is classed as a Starfigher used by the Rebel Alliance during the period set by this game, at least according to this website:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Rebel_Alliance_starfighter_classes

Along with all the rest of the Ships we love, A, B, X, Y-Wings, z95. In fact according to that list the Arc-170 is more appropriate than the E-Wing which is not on the list, of course FFG might know something we dont and my prediction is that the E-Wing may be in the EpVII.

On topic other than the couple combo/synergies listed its I don't think there are any other significant pairings of current astros and crew that really stand out.

Not to mention that Astromechs are Rebel only. Even though you did see driods on the deathstar they are never used in tie fighters.

I think we might see this if we ever see Y-Wing expansions that allow crew... otherwise I'm having trouble thinking of craft aside from the ARC-170 that could do it.

R2D2 + Nien Numb seems fun at 5 points

That would be nice for the Y-wing, no EPTs, but its the only ship with these unique combo avalibilities.

(I know theres a droid that gives an EPT for 1 pt, but that means theres a decision. Give it an ept or give it a crew+droid.)

This combo is what makes me think we'll never see a droid/crew combo on a ship. It seems way too powerful for just 5 points.

Recon Spec and R5-P9

Nien Nunb and R2-D2

These are why we can't have nice things.

Dunno, the Ewing has 1,2 and 3 as green maneuvers, would adding 4 green make it broken? I tend to find numb over rated. All in all I think Recon plus R5p9 would be much stronger.
