Possible to get multiple byes?

By Tharlias, in X-Wing

Is it possible to obtain multiple byes to a national event should a player win 2 regional events?

I've attempted to find some answer in the forums or tournament rules however nothing is mentioned. There seem to be no restrictions from FFG for an amount of events a player can compete in however I would like some concrete clarification on the issue.

I only ask as I have been lucky enough to take out a local regional event and plan on attending another in a different state. Should I be a total luck bucket and find myself in the top 8 of this second event, I would like to know if it's worth playing or conceding to my opponent.

Many thanks to all that help with this! :D

Simple answer....no

This is a little greedy don't you think?

you can have as many as you like..... but they all entitle you to a "First Round bye", so more than one will do you no good.... unless you intend to attend more than one nationals.

Well it could be the Zimbabwe National, the Venezuela national....or even the highly coveted Antarctica National trophy!

Thanks for the quick reply guys. The clarification is appreciated :)

In a game that has a lot of chance as a core mechanic, I don't see how reducing some variables is a bad thing :D

Just playing Devil's Advocate here a second.

As cheesey as I think it seems, the argument could be made that there are "2" first rounds. One for Flight One on Thursday and one for Flight Two on Friday.

This is probably the only way, but you'd have to not make the cut in the first day, then get in line for the second day, if there's space permitting, because they'll give priority to people that haven't played yet.

Plus, seeing the competition at the regionals, it'd be very unlikely that you'd earn TWO byes, redeem one bye on Thursday, and then not make the top 32... Unless you were specifically trying to redeem both byes or something so you could get two Chewy Cards... but then why redeem the first one anyways?
