Skyhopper?

By Haven13, in X-Wing

It suddenly hit me.

I've never seen any discussion of the T-16 around here. Apologies if I've missed this, and I did do a bit of a search for it, so if this is something that's been bandied about for several waves now, let me know.

Is this a possibility for an upcoming wave?

I'd say no, in a big way.

The T-16 Skyhopper, while made by the same folks that build the X-Wing, is not a starfighter.

It's basically a faster landspeeder capable of climbing in altitude.

I've seen it discussed once or twice. This is my favorite EU ship, so I really hope it makes it to the game eventually. Most speak up and say its only atmospheric, but it is definitely capable of trans-orbital travel. It's also quite widely used across the galaxy at the time of the civil war. Problem is I think of it as a fast, agile, low-powered fighter. That role is currently filled by the A-wing. But, there is that large cannon that is occasionally installed underslung on the T-16, so maybe it could have a cannon or turret upgrade.

Yeah, the skyhopper was a speeder, not a space ship. We'll get a snow speeder before we get a t-16.

There was a time (mid nineties and later) that EVERY OTHER Star Wars video game seemed to have at least one level featuring the ship. And they were annoying as all get out!

So, it kind of amazed me that I'd totally forgotten about it so far in my X-Wing interest.

I always liked the "split cockpit" look. I know Lucas was a car-nut, so I find myself wondering if that's a '63 Split-window homage.

It was also in the Action Fleet line that I loved the hell out of, so it just amazes me that I haven't thought of it until now.

They can have a t-16 if the imperials also get womp rats.

DEAL!

Make it so.

Mynocks too while you're at it!

I want pod racers.... well I want more pod racers as I already have 10!

Sorry to be a pedant, but it's not an EU ship. Luke actually plays with a model of one in the garage in ANH, and you can see one parked beside the walkway to the rear of the same garage (it's HUGE!)

(Would include an image but don't know how to on this forum)

I have a version of it that i designed to be a stopgap measure in the early days of the rebellion. Used as a carrier based combatant with upgraded engines and twin cannon but ive never seen a suitable scale actual T-16. Which is a pity since it is a cool vessel

I love it too - it's an amazing looking craft.

Can I be more pedantic?

I'd say it IS an EU ship.

In the movies, it's a model, and the equivalent of a primer-grey muscle car on cinder blocks in the gravel driveway of a trailer park. (It's too bad Luke and Alex Rogan never met.)

The only times I've seen one of these things being a SHIP is outside the movies.

No, the T-16 is definitely not from the EU. We see a big chunk of the actual craft in Episode 4. We see Luke playing with a model of it. We hear him say "I used to bulls-eye womp rats in my T-16 back home" just before the battle of Yavin.

I've certainly thought about this, and I'd love to be able to play them, even if this (and the T-47) is an atmospheric ship. I can see it having a cannon upgrade, maybe a crew upgrade (did have room for a passenger!) low attack (2, maybe even 1?) and having similar stats to the TIE Fighter, but the movement dial very similar to the X-Wing. I'm thinking it would likely have Focus, Target Lock and possibly Evade for actions, and likely Boost or Barrel Roll, but not likely both. The only tricky thing would be figuring out pilots for it... :[
