Ranger secrecy?

By Gizlivadi, in Strategy and deck-building

Ithilien Lookout is my favorite card in the Dunland Trap. Not by a long shot, but still my favorite. I decided I wanted to build a deck around it somehow. Mono lore secrecy is definately an option, but I wanted this to be a sorta thematic deck, so I included the rest of the Rangers n Stuff. This deck has NOT been tested, it's just more like a rough idea for you to evaluate, and give me opinions about.

Glorfindel (spirit)
Aragorn (lore)
Arwen Undomiel x2
Henamarth Riversong x2
Ithilien Lookout x3
Ithilien Archer x2
Ithilien Tracker 3
Anborn x2
Master of the Forge x3
Damrod x1
Ethir Swordsman x3
Light of Valinor x3
Resourceful x3
Ranger Bow x2
Ranger Spikes x3
Unexpected Courage x2
Elrond's Counsel x3
Noiseless Movements x3
A Test of Will x3
Galadhrim's Greeting x1
Daeron's Runes x3
Risk Some Light x3
So what do you think of it? I know there must be some card or cards I'm missing, but the basic idea is to stay in secrecy mode until you have built a nice army of rangers and questers. Resourceful is of course essential in the first hand, there's some nice staples like Light of Valinor, Unexpected Courage, Test of Will, etc and there's some scrying stuff. It's a shame not to have Faramir in here, but this is the only sorta viable lineup I could come up with.

looks nice :)

i was thinkg whether some cards to bring secrecy cards back from discard would be worth including, given that at some point strider's ability will bring you back into the realm of secrecy

I was also thinking of putting Leaf Brooch in it, it seems like it would help, but then I don't know what to take out...

Just tested this against JDtA. and it did pretty well. Obviously Resourceful and Light of Valinor in the opening hand had a lot to do with it, but still, it went very good. I like this deck in that it pretty much works like any other good Spirit-Lore deck, it has all the good stuff: Asfaloth (yeah, added Asfaloth, how could I miss it?), Test of Will, Unexpected Courage, Ranger spikes and of course two awesome heroes, but it also has a starting threat of 17, and resettable! That is awesome but it takes a lot of resources early on so resourceful is absolutely essential but when you have a couple copies in play you're pretty much at the best you could be...

Anyway, this deck looks promising but I ultimately had to dissolve it, for I needed some of it's cards to make another deck I prefer much more, but I will rebuild it later and test it more. Didn't Steward's Fear have a lot of low engagement cost enemies? How would it fare against that? I'll try that later.
