Is the damage deck outdated?

By Dagonet, in X-Wing

leaving aside the logistics for the moment, one variant could be to have additional ship specific damage decks

usage could be:

a) the specific crits are triggered by cards from the original deck, either by redefining some of the originals as crit stand-ins or by using the second hit from a double as trigger for something specific. (something along those lines)

one deck, mostly the original plus some extra cards for the ships

b) the original deck stays as it is, the specific decks for the ships exist in parallel and at a crit you choose from one of the decks. Here the original deck can be kept completely as is, and you only have to add the other decks. The challenge here is to balance the decks in their severity.

both cases would just mean you would have to supply the new decks in some form.

I think FFG could cover a LOT of bases, or kill a lot of birds with this one simple stone.

There are a few problems right now, as I see it and I have an idea on how to fix it.

Problems:

Errata Cards / Rules Questions

Damage Deck Deficiencies

New Pilot Cards (Tie Advanced, etc.)

Broken, Bent, Damaged Movement Templates (for those who use the cardboard ones)

Missing tokens, broken ship pegs, missing bases, etc.

So here is my proposed solution.

FFG should sell a "Tournament Players Kit."

It would come in a box the size of the core set, and it would contain:

5 small bases, 10 small pegs.

1 large base, 4 large pegs.

Standard movement templates and tokens punchout cards.

Errata card fixes (reprints of current rules).

Updated damage decks.

One pack of 50 American Mini sleeves for the damage deck.

FFG could charge $15-18 per box and include some alternate art pilot or upgrade cards to sweeten the deal.
