How do you apply vicious to a dual wielding character's attack? Vicious is a passive quality, which is simply a +10 to crit. Player A dual wields a vibrosword and vibrodagger. He hits and has enough advantage/triumph to hit with his off-hand weapon and critically hit. Does his crit roll get +20?
Why do I ask? Funny stuff, really...
I ask because my current players have found a way to stack mods, vicious and marauder talents to have a 59% chance of instantly kill anything on a critical hit with three advantage and one success on an attack. This is very possible with a dice pool of 4 proficiency dice.
Vibrosword vicious 3(+2 vicious serrated edge + mod/superior weapon quality) + Vibrosword vicious 3(+2 vicious serrated edge + mod/superior weapon quality) + 30 to critical hits from marauder talent lethal blows + off-hand crit adding 10 = 100 critical hit. If the game continued for long enough, bounty-hunter assassin tree provides another 30 critical hit rating.
Rule Question: Dual Wielding + Vicious
Each attack from the two weapons is a separate hit and vicious on both weapons does not stack on a single hit.
Each hit scored is with one weapon. While you can hit with both weapons on one attack roll, each generates a critical (with the right Advantage/Triumph spending) individually. Only use the Vicious on the weapon scoring the hit.
Cool, thanks! Can someone wielding a single weapon activate crit multiple times?
If you have multiple Advantages that would amount to multiple crits on a single hit the book suggests +10 per additional activation.
Thanks, you've been of great help.
NP, enjoy.
Each hit scored is with one weapon. While you can hit with both weapons on one attack roll, each generates a critical (with the right Advantage/Triumph spending) individually. Only use the Vicious on the weapon scoring the hit.
The only thing I would add is that if you get a crit on the hit with the first weapon, and a crit on the hit with the second weapon, keep in mind that when you roll on the table that the crit from the second weapon will get an extra +10 due to the crit from the first weapon.
Each crit is handled separately and uniquely, and each crit the target suffers will add +10 to the next crit roll.
Also keep in mind that the [boost] to attack from the second weapon is only rolled if the second weapon actually hits. You have to resolve the outcome of the first attack before you can determine if you have enough [Advantage] to allow you to also hit with the second weapon. So, any [boost] dice that come with the attack on the second weapon will only be rolled after you've confirmed that the second weapon has actually hit.
For my Wookiee Maurauder with 5 Brawn, I found that Balanced Hilt gives you a nice [boost] die for the base attachment, and that you can get one more [boost] die by adding another mod on top of that attachment. The Mono-molecular Edge attachment reduces the crit rating of your weapon by 1, so you only need a single [Advantage] to crit.
So, with Wookiee Rage, Feral Strength, etc..., I'm rolling PPPPADDDBB to hit with the first vibro-weapon, and just one [Advantage] is enough to crit. The SWRPG Dice Probability Calculator says that I've got a 69.3419% chance of getting at least one [success] and one [Advantage].
According to the rules of Two Weapon Combat, two [Advantage] is enough to allow the second vibro-weapon to hit. I've got a 54.789% chance of getting that. Once the second weapon hits, I can look at the probability of getting another [Advantage] to add a first crit to one of those two attacks (61.7887%), and to get the second [Advantage] so that I can get one crit on each (46.8638%).
However, if the second weapon doesn't hit, then odds are I do have at least one [Advantage] that I can turn into a crit.
