ride out the phantom storm

By paul1, in X-Wing

When I said didn't work out well, I just ment that my opponent lost. Therefore it didn't work.

The phantom or echo I should say cause he is the only one I've used can still dodge those other ships.

Plus now only your other half is going to my main force. My priority is those after my phantom.

I know the scenerio because I've faced X and b wings and they tried sending the X to my phantom and I still managed to survive.

The b can hurt but with only one evade can drop really fast.

All I'm saying is its not a strategy that is going to guarantee you a win.

When I've seen ships split their force it didn't work.

Doesn't mean my opponent played bad. When yout say it like that you make it sound like my opponent is not a good player and thus this strategy should work every time.

I don't agree with that

Beyond that there are just some ships that players can make sing. Maybe you're just that good with a Phantom.

My Tie Fighters always do well for me. Almost hilariously so.

Shuttles and Firesprays I've learned to do well with, but until I played the Shuttle I was awful with the Firespray.

What it really comes down to is the fact that the dangerous Phantoms are 35 to 37 points. That's a lot of resources in a flanker. Interrupting that flank will leave your main fleet crippled fast, and your Phantom pretty alone.

I want to add that I haven't used a Phantom mini swarm yet. But what had really worked well for me is

Echo

Veteran instincts

Advanced cloak

Kath

Recon Specialist

Academy pilotsx2

With this I found even when my opponent tries to split his force his main still has to deal with Kath and two ties. Kath I have mainly for her higher ps. Recon Specialist for that added defense.

The ties are fodder. I keep them ahead of Kath so they are a easier target, and the optimal choice for my opponent to shoot at.

Even if one dies that usually fine with me. They are just there to possible action denial and mainly keep kath alive.

Meanwhile I go after the ships if my opponent sends one or two after my phantom.

I mean you can kind of see it coming so I adjust the Phantom's position to make it hard for his force to hit if they makes sense.

I guess it all depends on what each side is flying.

Like yout said some ships may fall faster than others depending on the builds.

I also remember some games where my opponent did kill my phantom, but so much effort was put in that I still win with Kath and a tie
