Trying to learn fast

By legolas18, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey, I'm pretty new to this game, and I was just wondering if any of you could give me advice on the key sections to read in the Core Rulebook. I'm trying to learn the basics quickly so that I can play a game with a group. I've read up to the chapter titled "Skills."

Thanks in advance

Chapter I, II, and IV, are most important I think.

You'll receive no mercy from this lot.

Read the book. Listen to the Order 66 Podcast.

You'll receive no mercy from this lot.

Mercy is for the weak................

If you are a gm planning to run vehicle or space combat encounters, or a player planning to play a pilot:

Read the vehicle section carefully, take it as gospel, assume nothing.

The vehicle combat system is good, but it doesn't work like a lot of people expect it to. Half the trouble people have is because they are trying to apply the thought process of another game to this one.

Also remember, in vehicle combat the player must fight to the capibilty of the craft, not their character. As a gm, don't overload the players with opponents. As a player, don't get cocky, think, look at what you can do and the effect it will have, and assume you'll be dead or broke after two hits (because you probably will be.)

Alright thanks guys

be comfortable with the basic dice mechanics. be very familiar with motivations and obligations, as these are your go to story drivers (at least they are for me). when you are doing your session prep (for me this is about 20-30 minutes of writing/reading, but 2-3 days of thought), research and take notes on likely relevant rules. i am tackling the rules this way, and finding that learning the rules as i go is a great way to do it.

and like others have said, order 66.
