cannons, turrets, at canturrets.

By AtomicFryingPan, in X-Wing

So with the new outrider card we get some fun use out of the cannons. I assume we will see some new cannons evetually and probably some new turrets as well but for the life of me I can't help but feel like we really have our bases covered. For turrets you have ion and blaster which gives you the option of control or damage. For the cannons we have our long range with hlc, short range with auto, and control with the ion. So what new kind of cannon or turret could we see? Maybe a 2 attack turretthat gives stress if it connects?

I feel like a stress turret is just a watered down Ion. Maybe one that removes focus/evade/TL tokens from ships. That'd be sweet. Some sort of EMP thing

Thinking of a cannon with 2 attack die that fires twice in a row. And have the option of hitting one to two targets.

Like a cluster missile in cannon form?

I feel like it'd make more sense if both attacks hit the same target, since the turret can only face one direction at a time

Splash damage cannot or turret.

The Falcon in the movie has two turrets. It ought to be able to hit multiple targets. But then no one would ever want to play against it.

:P

Although it would share many similarities with a Blaster Turret I could see getting an actual Laser Turret which would get rid of the Blaster's Focus restriction. It would cost a minimum of 7 points and 8 or even 9 is probable.

On the Cannon front I someday expect to see a HEAVY Ion Cannon which could come out with the Skipray as its unofficial "primary" weapon. Not entirely sure what the effect would be (although TWO Ion tokens seems appropriate) or the cost.

Perhap a "point defense" turret will come out. Something that is R1 only and has low (2 or even 1) damage but may be used in addition to a normal attack. As a bonus it could be used to ruin target locks or possibly counter ordnance.

Did anyone ever strap a turbolaser onto a fighter in the EU?

Did anyone ever strap a turbolaser onto a fighter in the EU?

Wouldn't that be bigger than the fighter?

Then again, a space version of an A-10 might be cool.

I think the A-9 Vigilance had a single turbo laser. But, I could be wrong.

Closest I can think of is the A-9 Vigilance. But, it was just a Heavy Laser Cannon.

There was a tie experimental in the X-Wing alliance game that was described as having a turbolaser, and in one of the X-Wing novels there was an ugly with a turbolaser bolted on.

What do you think the rules would be? You only roll one attack die but if the enemy doesn't dodge it you get to throw their fighter at a wall and laugh while the pick up the pieces? :P

since the rules for turbolasers seem to have already been established with the release of the CR90 and its upgrade cards, it would probably use those rules rather than something new like a one shot kill.

K-wing to answer both lol

I would love to see a new turret in the yt2400. It makes sense it will comes with one due to the outrider title and lack of new cannon options.

What the autoblaster should've been.

A cannon that deals a single crit if it hits would be nice.
