Carrying case recommendations

By Lord Ashram, in X-Wing

Hi all!

Wondering if people could share any carrying case recommendations?

I have a relatively small collection... Three core sets with

3 x

2 a

2 y

2 b

1 hwk

1 falcon

6 tie

3 Ints

2 adv

2 bombers

1 shuttle

1 slave 1

And I anticipate getting one of each of four maybe, but not much beyond that.

For me, keeping the case compact is the biggest concern. Cost is my least concern, but obviously is still a concern:). But given that I am losing my entire games room because of a baby and xwing will be the only game that remains viable in my house... I don't mind spending ten extra bucks on a nice case.

I wouldn't mind some pluck foam to account for accidental purchases.

Can anyone make any recommendations please?

Thanks guys!

I use a plano 732 for my xwing and attack wing. Modular trays and room in top for cards extra trays including a large one all available to expand.

Recently picked up the Laser Touch medium bag. So far I am very impressed with it. Will have to see how it goes with constant use, but it feels more solid than the KR Multicase foam and allows for easier access.

Anything Plano. You can find them at Walmart.

But which Plano would fit my collection... Anyone got any specific models that might work? Any help appreciated! :)

the Plano 1374 is fairly popular. 4 3750 boxes hold tons of stuff with room to grow, plus the upper area can fit the corvette and transport.

Just curious, but as a comparison would you say this is bigger than the 1374? The 732 looks awesome.

It looks like the 732 might be discontinued. You might be anole to fine some around at a good price.

I believe the 1374 is going to be bigger. It holds another full size 3700 series tray and the compartment up top is also deeper.

KR Multicase do custom x wing foam. I'm a big fan of their cases.

I have the 732 and it is huge, I still have space to grow even though I have the CR90 and Rebel transport.

I have to support the Plano 1374. I have a similar sized collection to yours, with one more each of the Hawk, the A-wing and the TIE Int, and two less Tie Fighters, and can keep the collection with all the tokens, templates, dials, etc. in a Plano 1364 (with four of the smaller 3600 boxes) but it's starting to get very full.

It looks like the 1374 and the 732 are about the same. The 732 is slightly bigger in volume and it holds 3 3700 trays along with 2 smaller trays which are 'medium' in size from what I can gather online.

I think I may just go with whichever I can find at this point.

I use this: http://www.amazon.com/Plano-Double-Cover-Tackle-Organizer/dp/B001ECQPVQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1403451951&sr=8-3&keywords=plano+tackle+box+double+sided

And it fits all of the ships I own (look at my signature) along with dials, upgrade cards, bases and all tokens and cardboard base things for the separate pilots. Just cut out the bubbles the ships originally come in so they fit the dimensions of the dividers in the bottom layer, and when you shut the lid they are flush with the top, so your models aren't going anywhere. The top layers are great for just keeping one side open during play with tokens so you can get to them all. Once I get wave 4, I will also be able to fit the ships into it with a bit more room. Recently, I did have to get this to hold the pilot cards, huge ship range rulers, and mission tokens though, but I don't have much in it: http://www.amazon.com/Plano-Molding-5231-Double-Organizer/dp/B000HJ9514/ref=pd_sim_sg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0WNG9GCT91JC991QFHED

Between these two cases I can fit everything I own except for the large ships and their cardboard bases, along with the range 5 ruler.

I don't have any pictures, but this is the video I got the idea from, and he basically does the same thing I do so check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFNBB-ZCkBI

I currently have my collection in six Plano trays (3750, I think) that I keep in a duffel bag. Two trays for each faction (recently expanded from one tray each) which gives me room for wave four, one tray for tokens and templates, and one tray for the Transport and the Huge ship tokens. My Corvette is in a shoebox I found that fits it perfectly. I also have one small tray for the Mission-specific tokens. All of this fits nicely in a fifteen dollar duffel bag, two stacks of three placed end to end with the rulebook/pilot card binders, the upgrade card binder and the Corvette box on top. There is room for probably two more trays if needed later.

Plano 1374 is by far better the 732 has the 3700 trays which can't fit large ships or bases in one 3750 tray u can fit 2 falcons,or 3 shuttles or firesprays, and 12 smalls ships. And u get 4 larges trays in the 1374 while only 3 in the 732 with a cr90 & gr75 can fit in the top bula storage I have two one for each faction and it's perfect

Okay, I went with the plano 1374... Fits everything, even after I reorganized in order to keep bases and dials with their respective ships, and with space for wave 4. As compact as could be and still hold everything including the drop cloth and asteroids! Thanks for all the help, guys!
