It's the guy who did Breaking Bad and Looper. Kind of fitting, since Disney just went back in time and killed off all the EU.

I chuckled.
What did old JJ buckle under the pressure?
I don't think he was ever planning on doing the main trilogy. Considering how hesitant he was just to do VII, this doesn't surprise me too much.
I do like the talent pool Kennedy is getting for the various movies.
weird....curiouser and curiouser.
wow, I assumed JJ had the whole trilogy. I wonder how much any of the directors are actually writing or wether they are given a story board and asked to flesh it out a bit.

Personally I hope Lawrence Kasdan stays on and handles the majority of the writing duties.
So now if we hate 7, at least we can say "well the next one should be different".
But if we LOVE 7, we are gonna be fearful of 8.

Calling it now, Bryan Singer will be on board for Eps. IX.
I believe JJ is used to kick off the new trilogy and make a big splash for it, Rian is probably used to refine the later 2 episodes; I would say the whole prequel trilogy would be seen in a different light if Episode 1 started off with an epic bang.
****, I loved Brick! If Rian Johnson is doing it Joseph-Gordon Levitt has to appear, right?

Yes, but you don't find out until the end of the movie that his first name is Robin.

But Brett Ratner ends trilogies better, amirite?
He ends trilogies so well you need to devote an entire fourth movie to ret-conning them. If only someone could do for the last Indiana Jones what Singer accomplished with Days of Future Past.

Brick is one of my favorite movies! And JGL should be in every movie.
No, no. The third installment is going to have the biggest explosions, so they have to get Michael Bay.
(ducks the inevitable hail of blaster fire)

Well, that's just it: Brett Ratner ends trilogies the way Vader ends the careers of disappointing naval officers. What could be more fitting?

I've been saying this for years: someone with a good sense for pulp needs to put together a late-50s Indy movie starring Nathan Fillion. And they need to do it before he gets much older.

I was under the impression the plan all along was to have him doing 8 and 9 kinda like OT.
It peaked my interest at the time rather then assuming another 1-3

I honestly think it will be Peter Jackson--for the big final.

Might as well replace Cate Blanchett with Brian Cox while we're at it. That way at least one person can maintain a Russian accent.

Now I'm worried. Looper was utter trash.
I've heard nothing but good about Breaking Bad, though. We'll see.

Looper seems to be a very conflicting movie. I had to look up Johnson just to see what else he directed, and let me tell you, if that article had mentioned he was the director of The Brothers Bloom, I'd have been sold in a heartbeat.
I've generally found that people who didn't like Looper came in expecting an action movie and were dissapointed. Not that I blame them, the previews do set it up that way.
I really liked it though. It took me by surprise, but I got reeled in.

Hardly what I expected. I expected a somewhat coherent story that I could follow without pausing the movie and asking my great aunt if she had any damned clue what was going on either.
That actually happened.

So episode 9 will be three episodes in itself?
I think, and I could be wrong, that this hints at the tone of episode 8.
JJ does weird and awesome very well. But he's not particularly good at Dark.(See Fringe and the Star Treks.)
Meanwhile this new guy did Breaking Bad. That's Dark as ****. So it seems to me we're going to see some Empire Strikes Back story darkening for the middle film. Then we'll get another epic director for episode 9 to wrap it up.
