Vassal 2014 Galactic Cup: livecast schedule

tl; dr: the first live broadcast for the 2014 Galactic Cup will be this Sunday at 8 pm CST on twitch.tv (audio + video) and mixlr (audio).

The qualifying rounds for the 2014 X-Wing Galactic Cup on Vassal have finished and the field of 144 players has been distilled down to a 46 point single player elimination tourney. The qualifying players include the current world champion, multiple national champions, many players from top 16 US Nationals and Worlds, various regional winners, etc, etc - in short, a fantastic collection of X-Wing talent ready to fight it out for the top prize in the biggest and toughest on-line X-Wing tournament to date!

Throughout the next month I'll be livecasting their matches on twitch.tv (video + audio) and mixlr (audio). Commentating will me will be some great X-Wing folks, including X-Wing's first world champion Doug Hothie, its second world champion Paul Heaver, the team from the Scum and Villainy podcast, and many others.

I'm thrilled to announce that the first match we'll be broadcasting is Texx versus Uncleho. Texx finished second in the 2013 World's tourney and will be representing the Imperials.

The match will begin this Sunday at 9 pm EST/8 pm CST/6 pm PST. There are a couple of ways you can watch the match and listen to the live commentary:

1) Vassal and Mixlr: If you've never used Vassal before, here's a guide from Mu0n that should help you get started. Once you've got Vassal up, you can head over to my Mixlr site ( http://mixlr.com/sozin ) and listen to the live commentary. Mixlr is basically just live internet audio; there is a 4-10 seconds of time lag between the live Vassal game and the audio broadcast.

2) Twitch.tv : If you don't want to bother with Vassal, you can just head over to my twitch.tv site ( http://www.twitch.tv/sozinsky ) for the full audio and video. There will be about a 10-15 time lag behind the actual game.

I assume the squad format is the same as before: the players have 2 squads to select from?

Yep. For the first broadcast, here's the squads the players have to choose from:

Tex 1: Soontir + PTL + Hull Upgrade + Stealth Device, Carnor + PTL + Hull + Stealth, Turr + Vet Instincts + Hull Upgrade

Tex 2: Howlrunner, Black Squadron + DTF, Alpha x3, Academy x2 Academy x1

Uncleho 1: Dutch + Ion Turret + R2, Biggs, Red Squadron x2

Uncleho 2: Winged Gundark, BSP x 3, Bounty Hunter + Engine Upgrade + Gunner

Tex's second list comes out to 111 pts. I'm assuming he is flying with one less Academy.

After a network hiccup on my desktop things got restored. Texx's triple interceptors ended up taking out Uncleho's Biggs-Dutch-Red-Red build in an epic three hour game featuring an epic Dutch hunt and spectacular green dice.

Thanks for the backfill. I had to call it off after 2 1/2 and wondered how the game had ended.

We'll be broadcasting the game Fuamatu vs DarkTemplar tonight at 8 pm CST. Joining me in the broadcast will be legendary X-Wing player piqsid, aka David Pontier! Fuamatu won the last big Vassal tourney, and placed top 16 in 2013 US Nationals and Worlds.
