Upgrading Battlelore's components (minis, basing and board)

By Boromir_and_kermit, in Battlelore

G'day,

I just posted on my blog about a project I'm currently undertaking.
I'm basically doing a larger 3D board, replacing all the minis and using a new basing system to make setup and movement easier and faster.

If you're interested in how I'm doing this (or why :) ) you can check out my blog at www.boromirandkermit.wordpress.com

Cheers,
Ben.

Looking good, well looking real good, well pretty awesome! will you be 'flocking' the sides of the bases to hide the join?

and whats that holy smoke, bears, WEASELS! Splintered Light are spiggin awesome! (and that witch hunter just screams to be used as a hero) oh and a 20% off sale. Sorry I seem to have got diverted into a SLM fanfest but thank you for pointing out their existence to me!

Nice! I just caught this on BGG yesterday. I like the Hexon Terrain plates, those should be amazing. I've been looking for a cheap way to pimp out my BL set to achieve some of the same goals as you. The issue for me is I want to go 25-28mm and I don't have time to paint. The 3 options I know of are D&D minis, Heroscape, and Confrontation. All of them have their strengths and weaknesses but none of them make it really feasible. I have come across an intriguing 4th possibility in a new game called Arcane Legions which is offering a huge amount of pre-painted minis at an amazing price, but not much info is out on the game yet.

So B&K, do you have any pics of those based minis on the Hexon board? 15mm seems a liitle small for the hex size. If I actually enjoyed painting, I would totally jump on board the Splintered Light train (even unpainted, the Goblin Warg rider and Troll rock thrower are awesome). And man! those Hexon Terrain plates have pre-flocked components including rivers and hllls, too cool.

Nice work and I'll definitely keep an eye on your blog.

Hey Elberon,

Pleasure to introduce you to SLM - they are fantastic minis and they run an excellent service. I wasn't going to flock the sides as the join has only really had attention drawn to it because of the flash. At arms length you don't really see it. Plus the higher bases are great for picking up moving, so the flock would come off over time.

Spacemonkeymafia,

I thought about going 28mm, but it would be very difficult to not only fit the models with bases on a board, but also to find things like cattle riders - very difficult, wheras with 15mm, if I can't find a model, I just rebase one of the Battlelore ones and they fit in. 28mm would be a sight to behold though!

I haven't received the Hexon boards yet, so don't have any pics with them. I'm buying them unflocked so I can match them to my bases. With the base, the size is quite good on that size hex though as I've printed out a sample size hex to test the size against. It will allow me to place it on the hex and still have trees etc... I'll try and upload some pics of the base on a sample hex so you can see.

Cheers,
Ben.

Excellent, can't wait to see how this progresses!
