Overlapping, asteroids and attacking

By SDCC, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Basically, what are you prevented from doing when your ship's base is overlapping (bumping) another?

If you move through an asteroid (your template touches it), you have a to roll 1 attack die and take the result don't you? If you land on an asteroid, you do that same, then if on your next turn your template touches the asteroid again you have to roll again?

If you do a k-turn and the hit an asteroid is it like bumping a ship? Stop at the asteroid and not turn? Or do you finish it?

Also, can you attack if you're on an asteroid and someone is in range? If the front is clear of the asteroid I mean.

We used asteroids for the first time properly last night (only our 6th game), and it left some confusion.

Lots of questions!

Check the rulebook, its all in there. :)

Yes and yes.

No, you finish the turn (i.e. if you can complete, and don't overlap a ship on the other side), you roll for damage, and are prevented from attacking that turn if the ship's base ends up on the obstacle.

No, see page 20.

Cheers dude. Sometimes it just helps to say things out loud (or type) and have someone confirm I'm not being a tool :)

So if you're on an obstacle/asteroid, you can't attack at all?

On this topic what do they mean by overlap? If you fly near an asteroid what counts as overlap? In our case the template does not touch an asteroid at all...but if the base goes over the asteroid and stops clear of it do you still roll?

No. For obstacles, the only things that matter are 1) the template, and 2) the ship base in its FINAL position.

In this game ships do not "move along" the template. They start at the start, and end at the end. The only exception is when the final position overlaps another ship (NOT an obstacle), in which case you move backwards along the template until the ships are no longer overlapping.

Cool thanks...that has been bugging my group for quite some time
