Double Agent: Which ship would you steal?

By R22, in X-Wing

Incom originally meant for the X-wing to be an Imperial ship before the Rebs stole it and the design team defected. Got me thinking...

1. Fairly straightforward. If you primarily play one faction (or just have an opinion on the matter), which ship form the opposing faction do you wish could be used on your side?* Why? Is there a ship of your primary faction it would synergy great with? Note that it is JUST THE SHIP. Not a particular pilot, pilot's ability, or consequent modifications/payloads said ship could take. We're talking about stealing an X-wing, not mind controlling Wedge in his X-wing while R2-D2 flies shotgun and Determination is equipped.

2. If there were such a card, do you think it would make an interesting addition to the game? I imagine such a card as "Double Agent - Unique Modification: Generic ships only. You may use a ship fielded by the opposing faction. Crew, neutral or friendly to your primary faction, and secondary weapons may be equipped but not EPTs. (Aka, you can have an Imperial Outer Rim Smuggler but not one with Luke for a gunner.)

*Huge ships are not an option for this discussion, sorry Imps.

1)

The Tie Advanced...the last ship they would expect, just kidding def the saber sq interceptor so Roark can chain PS12 swarms

2)

And no so far FFG has done a good job and making sure 1 side or 1 setup can't get unbeatable while appealing for us it could be abused to break the system I think its fine the way it is.

Would have to be the TIE bomber for me, it has the only thing the Rebels don’t (Bombs) and cheap enough that you can still have a few heavy hitters in the squad as well (X-Wing, B-wing) once ordinance is away

The Firespray. I would run the Rebel Firespray all the time.

For Imperials I'd nab the Hawk. And run it with the Firespray. Or I would if I could use the named pilots... Kyle was a trained Stormtrooper after all. He was believed to be a double agent.

This.

Firespray + Chewie + Z-95 x2

I would steal the Shuttle, then throw Han, a Chewie and Leia on it. Your Death Star is doooooooomed.

None, because rebel ships are stupid and useless except when they're completely broken and OP.

No, just kidding. but seriously none, because I just don't like Rebel ships and tactics the way I enjoy Imperials. Imperials just feel so much more fun to fly.

I completely agree with you.

Notice all the other posts are rebels taking imperial ships.

Join the dark side, It is the only way....... (and we have Soontir come on)

Hrm. If we're ignoring unique pilots.... I'd say either the B-Wing or the Y-Wing. Something cheap to be a solid anvil for Imperial squads. The Defender may function as this, but it is 30 points....

My initial pull is the awing. 15ptx5 after refit in swarm, with howlrunner, and shields? 7pts left too. Think that's nasty. Double up on some of the coming imperial only ept's might be nasty too.

Bwing would be awefully similar. Nice Jonus bonus platform.

Really isn't that much the imps can't do without the rebels named pilots.

Rebels would kill for access to the defender, phantom, and firesprays. Extra actions and token sharing with those? Crazy.

As the Empire I would want to steal a named YT1300. That 360 degree firing arc is something they don't have... yet.

Now, I wouldn't take any ships but I'd take a pilot. Do you know how much my Interceptors would love a giftwrapped Focus token courtesy of a turncoat Garvin?

"it's an older code, but it checks out"

Stolen Lambda shuttle so I can truly fly casual.

For my rebel squad; a I'd love a stolen buzzsaw shuttle for sure.

My imps? Nothing really.

But if I Had to pick one I'd go with the A-wing. Nimble enough (and thus fun to fly) to go along with regular Ties and Ints.

For space nazi's; Either one of the beautiful 4 winged fighters.

For the freedom fighters; anything that isn't an ugly eyeball with giant ears will do.

I sense a great bias in you(r words ;) )

Lambda Shuttle for the rebels please :)

Well I am hoping that they make a Reble version of the Lambda class shuttle considering they used one to infiltrate Endor. Maybe a special pack with a slightly different paint scheme.

Different paint-job please.

And different options. (limited in a way but with different crew options)

Could (will!) be used as Imperial shuttle too of course.

For the Empire, I would take the B-Wing to add some cheap toughness.

For the rebels, a Tie Interceptor. Might change it for a Phantom once I get to try this little f*****.

The Firespray. I would run the Rebel Firespray all the time.

Agreed, I'd use it as a Pirate (like Kath Scarlett) and run it with y-wings and z-95's.

I would steal the Shuttle, then throw Han, a Chewie and Leia on it. Your Death Star is doooooooomed.

Han will have that shield down. We've got to give him more time!

Back on topic:

Firespray for the rebels. Would be fun to run a firespray flanked by y-wings in its blind spots.

Would rather see Double Agent as a unique Title, so that you could still equip modifications.

Otherwise, I'd probably go for a Green Squadron A-Wing for the Imperials, especially post-Aces. At 23 points, a Green with Chaardon and Test Pilot is basically an Advanced with a better dial, PTL and Predator.

Example # 1372 why the Tie Advanced is overpriced.
