Looking for advice for 2 100pt teams for 2 new players

hi!

I'm after some advice, perhaps you guys can help me. I'm going to be running a game for two new players next week, the winner of which will play me in my 1 Y/ 2 B Wing squad or my 3 X / 1 B Wing squad.

So what i'm after for these two guys are two squads, 100points or thereabout that cover all the basics (abilities, upgrades etc etc) and are chosen from these available minis:

Imp:

TIE x 5

Adv. TIE x 1

Rebel:

XWing x 3

YWing x 1

Available pilots are core set and above expansions

Imperial:

Darth Vader (29) (31 total)

-Squad leader (2)

Howlrunner (18) (20 total)

-Swarm Tactics (2)

Academy Pilot (12) x4 (48 total)

Howlrunner and Vader fly in the back of the Academies, Howl grants them all re-rolls, Vader either TL and Focuses or passes an evade to Howl if she bumps to keep her alive. Howl bumps one of the academies to PS8 during combat, so that you're shooting with 9,8,8,1,1,1 against the other team. 99 points squad total means that the imperial chooses initiative

Rebel:

Dutch Vander (23) (28 total)

-Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Garven Dreis (26)

Red Squadron Pilot (23)

Red Squadron Pilot (23)

100 points total, Garven and Dutch support one another or the Reds, pretty potent squad but pretty easy to fly. Middling PS means you shoot before most pure swarms

Not really a lot of selections to make in there were building a 100 point squadron for new players. On the Imperial side you're basically going to need to use all of those ships with Vader/Howlrunner/APx4 making the most sense; what to spend the last few points on can then be debated. You need all six ships to be competitive but "upgrades" are hard to make work; the upgrade I'd actually like to add would be an Engine Upgrade on Vader.

On the Rebel side you can see some three ship builds using those fighters but using all four keeps things simpler. An Ion Turret on the Y-Wing is almost a must but there are several ways to mix that up. I see Eruletho's squadron and while I like things about it the Reds are overkill against the Imperial and without knowing "your" squads composition may be wasted points. I could see the following options:

Dutch + ICT

Garven

Biggs

Rookie

or

Dutch + ICT

Garven

Rookie (x2)

with 4 points left over to give someone a Proton Torpedo or to pass out Astromechs.
