Goodluck trying to kill this squad

By Popn618, in X-Wing

========

100 points
Pilots
------
Tarn Mison (25)
X-Wing (23), R7 Astromech (2)
Biggs Darklighter (29)
X-Wing (25), R2-D2 (4)
Gold Squadron Pilot (25)
Y-Wing (18), R3-A2 (2), Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Rookie Pilot (21)

Between Biggs2d-2 and Tarn thats a hard to kill combo,

the y has a fair amount of hit points and works as anti-phantom since this would work best in formation flying.

how about this 1:

omicron + anti pursuit lasers (23)

omicron + anti pursuit lasers (23)

scimitar + seismic charge (18)

scimitar + seismic charge (18)

scimitar + seismic charge (18)

thats 100 points and a total of 38 hitpoints

yes the damage potential is low, but they will be around long enough to hurt you

this is my counter to the rebel tank build i had to fly against YYBB and its 32 hit points

I can do it. I will do it nine times.

I saw something similar to this suggested today though instead of the Y it had Hobbie and R3-A2 (i prefer the Y i think) and Cracken with Squad Leader instead of the Rookie.

Id Honestly drop the Rookie, add Airen Cracken and give him Squad Leader. Its the same amount of points and very useful. Other than that i dunno about the Droid on the Gold Squadron pilot. If its main role is to turret then how often would it see use outside the initial joust. I might be tempted to drop it and upgrade to a Grey Squadron.

It makes for a tough little nut to crack, but calling it 'immortal' however is gonna just make people prove you wrong.

1 tie fighter ;-@

Swarm should still do well against it, but such is life in general.

4 Omi Group pilots with ion.

All I have to do is ion your ships each turn and they will fly off the board no problem, I did it last Saturday.

The set up is to have the 4 in a row, the two outside ones turn hard towards each other, crashing into each other. The two in the middle stop as there first turn. Every turn after move 1 forward. This makes everyone stay in place, you cover every angle of attack follow up with a couple rounds of ion as as ship come at you. Your opponent loses to shuttle butt.

After much testing I have found that R2-D2 on Biggs is a bad Idea, unless you can guarantee getting 2 activations out of it, it is strictly worst than shield upgrade.

Biggs gets focus fired upon like no one else (like he is supposed to), and without a more proactive way of preventing damage to him (DTF etc.) your wasting points on R2-D2.

Also there is no list that is unbeatable, sure some take longer to kill due to highr hit points but thats the beauty opf this game in that it is so balanced, and as always you can always die to the wrath of the dice gods :)

oh yeah, the dice gods are fickle

pow psh pik pth psh pow pwk pow psh.

I'd imagine an all-interceptor list would do great against this. Anything PS 5 or higher. I'd take my Red Eye Flight against this list any day. Biggs won't save you if I just boost or roll so that he's not a legal target.

Red Eye Flight: Sir, you had my attention; now you have my interest .

Pray tell, what is this squad?

Wild Guess but I would put money on:

RGP + PTL x 4

Kir Kanos, hull upgrade

Carnor Jax, RGT, Hull, Shield, and whatever EPT i feel like at the time (ranging from 1 pt VI to 4 pt Opportunist)

Soontir Fel, RGT, Targeting Computer, Shield, PtL

it's got a few points of wiggle room for my whims.

Nope, sorry. I'm not a huge fan of Faceless Squads, I prefer named pilots mostly. Good guess though.

Also, I'm aware Soontir isn't a Red Interceptor, but I don't care. ^_^

Airen + Squad Leader

Garven

Biggs + R2F2

Tarn + R7

Each turn Aiken gives Biggs the Focus Action. Biggs uses his action on R2F2. When Aiken fires he gives Garven a Target Lock. When Garven uses his Focus he transfers it to to Biggs

Tarn is hard to kill, but Biggs and Tarn don't really synergize. I flew them both last night. Also if your opponent gets a good attack run he is going to put more damage on Biggs than r2d3 will help with.

Hey! That's been my flavor of the week lately! Lovin' it!

And for that original post the dice gods will say you will never roll and evade and your opponents will roll crits every time

Honestly it looks solid and may be something I tinker with tomorrow night, but man would I never say "I dare you...", that's just asking for it

I like this. I will be trying something similar to this soon.

Won't need luck to take that one down.

I'll take:

Carnor jax

Howlrunner + swarm tactics

Alpha squad pilot x3

There is no way Biggs survives 1 attack round.

I can do it. I will do it nine times.

Were you saving that one for just now?

A couple of small problems here. First R3-A2 requires the target to be within firing arc, so you likely won't be able to hit the Phantom with stress at all, assuming he's flying the ship with any sense. Some people may trot into your arc, but if they wind up both at range 2 (for the ion shot), and inside your primary arc (for the ideal combo), they aren't very good at this game. Also as others have pointed out, Biggs with R2-D2 is an expensive bet that the opponent will either not have shots, or will roll badly. Try as you might, Biggs is likely going to get shot down, and any upgrade you put on him is extra points at the end of the round counted against you, and points that could have been kept alive longer if you had them on another ship that was protected by Biggs.

There's a good foundation here, but I'd drop R2-D2, and R3-A2 (gain 6 points), and I'd bump the Gold up to Dutch for 5 points to give you more offense to go with your Defense. With your 1 extra point you could make an initiative bid, bump the rookie to a Blue, or put an R2 unit somewhere.

I can do it. I will do it nine times.
