Draw Their Fire changes who suffers the damage from the uncanceled [KABLAM!] symbol.

So, before the card is dealt.

Moreover, altering who suffers the damage does not change who was Hit. So, don't DTF a hit from an Ion Cannon ;-)

Dice Results -> Damage -> Cards

DTF goes off during dice results, then you resolve damage and cards to each ship from there.

I don't think you even *can* DTF an ion hit, there are no uncancelled crit results since the effect of the ion cannon cancels all die results. The ship that is "hit" is the one that suffers the 1 damage.

You actually can, because there is for some small period of time, an uncanceled crit does exist - there has to be in order for the hit to be determined. After the hit, then everything is canceled.

The timing is fuzzy and complicated, but apart from some idle academic discussion we've never seriously bothered to hash it out because it doesn't matter. It either doesn't work, or if it does you take the crit on your DTF ship AND still ionize the original target, so you'd never do it.

That doesn't happen until a ship is considered "Hit", which is done after figuring out if there are uncanceled hits.

I'd rule that they're simultaneous effects, in case you wanted an extra crit on your fleet for some reason.

[sorry for the thread necromancy]

So, when there's an uncanceled 'Crit', you have to choose to use Draw Their Fire before you know what the effect of the faceup card is. Do I have that correctly?

Correct. Results -> Damage -> Cards. Draw Their Fire acts on the results.

Thanks for letting me know.
