Hey Gang,

awesome news.....even though its the same prizes as leagues im gonna have to see if i can get them all together to play for more prizes and in what format they want. i really like the custom-fit approach here. i can tailor the events to what our group likes best.
"Here's the same stuff, do whatever you want with it"
Nice pins though.
Thanks for the info, hope this helps.
Great news, the pins and poker deck look incredibly cool. I guess I'll have to start a league at my new FLGS, since I've moved since my last abortive attempt.

Hmm, this piece of news left me wondering. Nate said in the article that players can basically do whatever they want with the prizes and play whatever format the please.
"Follow our suggestions and play our special events when they appeal, and when they don’t, come up with an event that works better for your local playgroup."
Does this mean that the players will decide whether they want to play 3x White-Border, 4x Mixed-Border, Highlander, League... Anything they want? I would've preferred something a bit more clearly-defined, but I guess this is pretty okay.
Also:
"Of course, we’ll continue to release guidelines, special events, and championship events, --"
So the Nationals will again be held in the summer? This is great news.
One thing that is necessary for an event like that are clear rules for deckbuilding. And if I may suggest, how about breaking the Nationals/Regionals into parts: You have the LCG-championship tournament (3x WB only) and the vintage-championship tournament (All cards allowed (expect banned ones), 3x). Maybe some other parts as well.
We do need specificity. LCG 3X is a given (or is it core still 1X). We should at least agree on names of the other game play. Black Border 4X (plus any LCG) might be called Classic4X, and there'd be a Classic3X. FFG may not bother to even give name to anything other than LCG play. But again, that format, if there is to be just one for gencon, is not yet known.
GenCon events were already posted: Worlds is LCG, there is a Core Set draft kind of thing for new players. And a Cthulhu League spanning all 4 days, which I would bet is LCG only. Unless they slipped in some other events last minute, this is what we get. Event submission is over. No CCG events listed.

there should be some solid rules for tourneys. atleast so that standard deck building rules cant be changed, and banned cards are banned for tourneys still. any yeah some kinda blue-print formats would be nice too. cause those will probably be the most common then.
The mere fact that I still do not know if core will be allowed at 1 of each card or 3 of each card, means either
1. Everyone knows it remains one, and I am foolish for pushing the matter.
2. It has risen to three, and I am foolish for not catching it.
2. No one at FFG knows and thus they are not willing to tell.
Regardless, I am getting quite sick of asking, but prefer to know rather than not. Call me crazy.
The '1 Core Set' limitation is for the adventure leagues and I'm sure it will
also apply to the leagues at GenCon. No such limitation has ever been announced
for Worlds '09. It's safe to assume that Worlds will include 3 of any LCG card.
Thank you.
I do think this article is fine and left us enough liberties to propose the best tournaments for our players :
We do follow the league in a nitpicking way, and we were given some argumentations because some players were upset they cannot find their AP in time to use it in the league.
So, we decided that the futur league (this summer) will bring some new points and add a new dimension to the matchs. We may decide to change some stuffs and allow some players to mix borders, in a way to include the players which decided not to play the league as they didi'nt want to pay for CS cards they already own in Blck borders... And we don't wanna loose players, that's a fact !
Servitors are allow to accomodate the league to their need, and there are things that needs to be done to allow players enjoying such things.
So, there should be accomodations, and Nate is the smartest guy to officialize such things. thanks anyway FFG !
The only thing that really stops me doing the League is that we have to pay for the prize support. At the end of the day we as servitors are promoting the game, running tournaments to promote and maintain a customer base. Why should we have to pay for the prize support? The least that could be done is to drop that in recognition of what servitors do.
I'm sure most will disagree but there you go.
Do what everyone else does and charge players an entry fee ($2-5) for each tournament. That way, the kit is paid for, and if you have extra money left over, you can purchase a new Asylum Pack or Core Set for additional prizes!
Tomarrow we start our second Adventure League using again
the 'Heads Of Fate' senario. Most enjoyed the senario the remainder
were neutral to it. I hope we have another senario to choose from by Dreamlands.
If not I'll make something up myself. In our leagues each participant payed a league fee
of $1 a week = $6 a league x 9 players = $54. This paid for the league kit and left plenty
for other prizes, like a custom made trophy, a custom made league champion t-shirt
and more. For this coming league I'm burning a special Mythos soundtrack compilation
to play quietly as background for our leagues. My store can't keep Core Sets in stock
because they're selling so quick! As you can see the initial league set up has worked
well for my local community but flexability is good so all communities can make it work.
