Targeting Coordinator question

By SpaceagentSpiff, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi all

Have finally recieved my CR90 and hope to play it soon. But sitting decking it out, a question has occured (I have tried to search for answers, but none seemed to answer this:)

When you spend the energy do you also get the target lock, or do you need to use and action to get the target lock.?

You have to give the target lock away to another ship. Now if you use weapon engineer and targeting coordinator you can gain two target locks, one to keep and one for another ship which would free up your action to use coordinate on the fore section.

Or if you don't use weapon engineer you can still take the target lock action for yourself.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, but affraid I didnt phrase my question right.

What I am unsure about is wether you first need to use an action to get a target lock and THEN you spend an energy to give that target lock to another ship?

So to put it another way - does it 'cost' both an action and an energy or just an energy (and no action) to aquire and give away a target lock?

You don't have to spend your action. You simply pay the energi and then acquire a target lock. Then you give the blue target lock to the friendly ship you chose.

But keep in mind that you don't want to use the target lock action on the turn you plan on using the Targeting Coordinator, because you can only maintain 1 taget lock meaning that you lose the one you have when you spend the energy to acquire a new one.

This is incorrect. Spending energy happens before you do your action, so if you use targeting coordinator, you pass the blue TL token before your action phase. Once it is time to take an action, you may TL as you are no longer maintaining any TLs. You would be correct in saying that it you have a TL from a prior round that using Targeting Coordinator would remove your existing TL.

Sorry ;)

I still have not played my first Epic game, so I forgot that Actions happen after spending energy.
