6/28 - Mesa AZ REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP at Empire Games

JUNE 28TH REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP NEWS

NOTE: Wave 4 is expected in stores June 26th and will be LEGAL to use at this event unless FFG announces otherwise (Empire Games is taking Wave 4 pre-orders for Regionals participants for those interested.)

LOCATION: Empire Games

DATE: June 28th, 9:30AM until conclusion

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE: 5 Swiss rounds of 70 minutes, followed by a cut to the Top 8. Final round will not be timed.

CAPACITY: 51 of our 64 slots have now been pre-registered and paid for. Once all 64 slots are filled we will also create a standby/alternate list. Cost is $10, registration can be in person or via phone at (480) 813-1525.

PRIZES: Registration fees will go to prize support, including the Regional Championship kit (acrylic trophy and bye for the winner, acrylic maneuver templates for top four, translucent attack/defense dice for top eight, bag of ten acrylic evade tokens for top sixteen, alternate art Luke Skywalker for all players), store credit, custom painted ships, and a BUNCH of other swag.

EVENT SCHEDULE:
- 9:30AM Players arrive
- 9:45AM Players should have submitted their squad sheets for the day to the TO and had their damage deck verified for completeness*)
- 10AM Pairings for Swiss announces, players find their round 1 spots
- 10:15AM Round 1 begins
- 11:45AM Round 2 begins
- 1PM LUNCH (be back by 1:35PM please)
- 1:45PM Round 3 begins
- 3:15PM Round 4 begins
- 4:45PM Round 5 begins
- 6PM Swiss rounds conclude, Top 8 announced, prizes not related to top 8 rewards are distributed
- 6:15PM DINNER (be back by 6:50PM please)
- 7PM Top 8 begins
- 8:10PM Top 8 concludes, prizes for top 8 are distributed
- 8:30PM Top 4 begins
- 9:40PM Top 4 concludes, prizes for top 4 are distributed
- 10PM Final round begins (Final round will be to the death or concession, and will not be timed)

FOOD AND DRINK: Water, energy beverages, and energy snacks will be provided to players throughout the event. Lunch and Dinner breaks will take place at 1PM and 6:15PM respectively. Stay hydrated!

*DAMAGE DECK COMPLETENESS: This means you should have an accurate damage deck with you at the event (along with all other components from the X-Wing Miniatures Starter Kit). The damage deck contains 33 cards comprised of seven Direct Hits and two of each of the other thirteen types.

PREMIER EVENT: This event is designated by FFG as a "Premier" event. Premier events are the highest level of competition for Fantasy Flight Games tournaments, and all players, judges, and tournament organizers involved are held to the highest levels of conduct. Players are assumed to be familiar with the game's rules, as well as the latest FAQ and tournament rules, and should expect all rules to be strictly enforced.

UPDATE: The event is now being sponsored by Red Bull. Six cases of all flavors will be at our players' disposal during the event, along with a variety of other beverages and snacks.

Also, we'll be having a best custom painted X-Wing Miniature contest during lunch - prize still TBD

UPDATE: Players planning to attend have generously donated ice, ice chests, snacks, and money so we will be well stocked on energy supplies throughout the day. Also, we are having a X-Wing Happy Hour the night before the Regional (so this Friday) from 4-7 at Dos Gringos in Mesa. Which would be walking distance from the game store if it wasn't 110 degrees outside. :)
