Talon rolling has always been one of my favorite imperial abilities. I've been thinking about how it could be brought into the game. I was thinking that maybe it could work something like this. If a ship attacks you from outside your arc, inside range 2, you can discard this card (EPT) to move your ship to the position a 2 move behind the opponent ship if your agility value is greater than theirs. I think it would be crazy fun but not too overpowering. Wedge and any xwing with outmaneuver would be immune unless they had a stealth device. Awings and ewings would be immune unless same thing. B's and y's and falcons would get rolled (not that that would effect the falcon too much except for the shooting next turn. A lot of interceptors would still rather have ptl but ties and advanced would love it and so would phantoms that are cloaked. I just think it would make for some extra playability for top level imperials that aren't interceptors.
How about a talon roll?
so a card that lets you just pick up your ship and move it?
I can't think of any way to explain how that happens.

This sounds both hideously complicated, and unnecessary. Plus I have no idea what a Talon Roll is. Care to explain.

The OP described it in reverse, best as I can tell, but yeah.
Edited by bzinfinityThe Tallon Roll is Star Wars legacy, being a very powerful card from the old Decipher SWCCG. Though honestly, K-turns sound like what Tallon Rolls are supposed to be.
From the image on the star wars wiki site, is it just the daredevil action performed after a forward maneuver
That was the reason I had the other ship end up in front. The greater agility ends them up in front. That was what I was getting at. Top imperial pilots used it to get right behind slower rebel ships. I'm sure the wording could be cleaned up some but that was what I was wanting. To get people better at that to help.

Yeah, what he said.

This sounds more like the Top Gun "I'll slam on the brakes and he'll fly right by!"
The best way to do a Tallon roll in this game and would represent exactly what a Tallon roll is, which is basically executing a turn an implementing a barrel roll in it.
So let say you bank 3 left, and your are about to end up in front of your opponent ship but just barely. You would go back 1 bank left and now you must execute a barrel roll left or right.
Not too complicated to implement and quite cool.
Because tthe Tallon roll was a barrel while turning so that you can still stays on your enemy's 6

Not colliding but ending up about side to side and you are not able to have it in your angle for firing on him because you are next to each other. Than you would take you bank 1, go back and execute a barrel roll left or right behind your opponent.
The Tallon roll main reason is that you can stay in your enemy's 6 and that way you would be able to do it but slightly off set because of the barrel roll but still in your firing arc. I am sure they could implement it in the game and it would be lots of fun!

How is overlaying your bank 1 left template over your actual bank 3 template and going back and executing a barrel roll left or right overly complicated and it would exactly be a Tallon roll. That maneuver should grant a stress token, only Soontir could pull out a focus out of that elite move! ;-)
The Tallon Roll is essentially a Star Wars-renamed displacement roll . The basic idea is to prevent overshooting your target by flying a longer flight path in three dimensions. So even if you were flying faster than your target, you remain behind it.
I see a lot of conditions to a turn like this that may make the game more complicated.... Easy solution may be to increase or decrease bank value by 1 (not exceeding 3).
Should only be possible with a bank maneuver that's it! :-)
Maybe: Before performing the turn, you may barrel roll away from the direction of the turn.
?
A Talon Roll sounds like something that comes with a wasabe ball and a cup of warm sake.
Edited by zathras23When you reveal your movement dial you may immediately discard this card and perform a boost action and a barrel roll action instead of your maneuver and earn one stress token if you do not have the barrelroll action.

Try fitting all the needed text onto an upgrade card. Succinctness is key. My version fits.

Should you get a stress if you do not have the boost action either? So potentially one could be double stressed but at least they can perform the maneuver
You could require double stress but that requires longer text and makes the EPT less desirable/useable. Of the 2 actions, BR seems to be the more "stressful" of the 2 maneuvers. Only being able to pull the trick once is already pretty limiting for your EPT slot.
My version,
"After you perform a bank maneuver, you may rotate your ship 90 degrees in the opposite direction from your bank, then gain a stress token"
Can't we do this with PTL , boost, and barrel roll? Lt Lorrir can also do something similar.
