This came up this past week in playing and could not find anything in the rule book.

I am attacking and sebd two units into a conflict. My opponent sends in three unit to defend. We have the edge battle which he wins. After conflict my two units are destroyed but my defending opponent has one last unit that has nothing to defend in the conflict and still waiting to focus to strike.

What happens to this third defending unit?

Does the unit go back with no focus token or do you place a focus token on this last defending unit?

We ruled that since this unit was commited to the conflict and even though the unit did nothing to defend (because there were no more attacking units left) that this last defending unit still gets a focus token because he was involved in the conflict phase.

Was this ruling correct?

An engagement cannot end until all involved units have been focused to strike.
