Hey guys,
My friend bought 2 bombers last week and will be wanting to use them for the first time on Wednesday when we play, are there specific tactics to deal with them?
Thanks,
Ben

Shoot them before they shoot you.

Honestly, the best way to counter them is to have high agility.
It makes the ordnance more likely to miss, and would block their cheap 2 attack dice effectively as well.
Just... don't get behind them. Bombs hurt.
Tell him to load them up, 2 torpedoes, 2 missiles, and a bomb each. And then have a TIE advanced escorting them.
Tell him that's the current meta, and he should totally do that.
Depends on what ordinance they had, I played against a bomber list with Jendon w/ ST-321 title, so avoiding TLs was not an option - they had assault/homing missiles iirc. I moved in slow at first so we were *just* out of range 3, then next turn I went in a bit faster so we were all at range 1 - made it so he couldn't fire his missiles that round since we were too close. Then next round his only option would be to k-turn to get me in his sights, but he'd be stressed and wouldn't have TL and focus. Really cut down on their ability to do much damage.
Edited by CptnhalfbeardAction denial is great as well. Ram a PS 1 A Wing or Tie Fighter into their path so they cant take target locks and enjoy the easy win (if you do it successfully
)
So as I've only got 1 Y and 3 X's I could use a gold squadron pilot with ion to fly round them/block them and ion them so I know exactly where they're going to be so the X's can flank them after dealing with his interceptors?
Crit 'em.
Bombers don't like crits.
Just avoid/absorb that ordinance strike and pick em off.
I played today against 3 Bombers and a Shuttle with TL Trickery. Luckily i was flying B's and Y's. The Y's absorbed a pouding and threw out some Ion Shots and the B's did the damage.
