I have noticed a marked increase in snappy and rude comments in the last month or so. More people seem to be attacking others and leaving messages that are just mean and don't actually give any evidence. It's sad to see...
Simmer down now

So then report them, but don't make threads about it. Odds are you're just going to stir up more antagonism if you re-hash the subject.
Edited by WonderWAAAGHI've noticed this as well.
I can't really explain why, other than the snowball effect. Someone says or asks something, someone else writes a semi-barbed comment, maybe another person posts something slightly more harsh, followed by a few comments that are actually helpful, then the OP over reacts at the passive aggresive people, and from there the thread turns into a slap fest.
Perhaps it's a combo of inflated ego, too much pride and the internet shield (where because you're behind a screen instead of face to face you tend to forego any human civility).
I agree and wish it would stop. Calling names and getting all pissy makes you seem like an incredibly small person with big psychological problems.
Is it really how you treat people on a daily? I mean come on, just because it's the internet doesn't mean you forget how to be a decent person.
Who knows, maybe these people are assholes in real life. But I would put money on no, they aren't. Maybe it has to do with real life stress decompressing onto this forum. If that's the case this, nor any public area is the place for it. Read a book, take a shower, clean something, just relax.
TL;DR - stop perpetuating the snowball of misunderstanding - ignore haters, and don't come here to vent real life stress in the form of aggressive words.
Edited by Explosive EwokYeah, those passive adhesive people are a real sticking point with me...
And verily did the OP look down from upon his tall horse and let his gaze linger amongst the uncouth masses and deemed their posts unworthy.

This forum has a great ignore list feature.
It's the way of the internet. I see the biggest problem being the inflection is left to the reader not the writer of a post. Some threads are just begging for trolls or even started by trolls themselves.

I see what you did there.
Don't like chalking it up to "Haters gunna Hate" but unfortunatly the more people you bring into a community the more likely it is you will see the percentage of the human population that fall under the Dark Triad, and they can be summed up as Trolls.
(I hate using that word BTW)
I find myself agreeing a bit. While I always assumed that was just the way the more immature forums on the internet work (check out the Battlefield forums if you want to see a forum that would feel right-at-home in the Lord of the Flies) I do think that people are a bit testy recently. It is okay to disagree and have different opinions and still be nice:)
To play devils advocate:
Stronger attitudes about a subject tend to indicate an increased importance in said subject, at least in the minds of those involved (ie playing). Xwing has been a very successful game thus far, with its complexities leading to a fictionalisation of the ever increasing fanbase. Yes it can be annoying but well thats just what humans do. Certainly I prefer a Fly casual attitude but I think its also interesting to see the developments in the following for this game, promoted at least in part by its nature.

Not a tall horse. A muthereffin elephant.

Ooh, is someone waiting a story about x-wing fans.
I think people here can get very passionate about a certain point of view, but they've got to realise that it's their point of view. And although some may share that point of view, others will have a different opinion and you've got to be able to respect their side of the discussion also, without just shouting them down as wrong.

I feel like I may have seen this on a fortune cookie at some point. My favorite, though, I'll never forget: "when you are squeezed, what comes out is what's inside you."
To the OP: Behold, an Internet forum gaining popularity. This is what always happens. It's kind of like the Eternal September effect.
