Platform series?

I know the platform series of star bases vary in size but even the smallest one would be huge.

Anyone think of making one? Even a flat cardboard one to play over, perhaps make a scenario of it?

If only the game was a fleet level not squad level game, could open it up to endless ships and stations...

I'm thinking about house-ruling one in, looks like it would be four sections (one for each arm and one for the center hub). The center has the energy and cargo, the arms have the weapons.

I think this would be interesting as a custom mat, maybe where you only see the center of the platform and one or two arms coming out from an edge.

That could be an interesting expansion pack; a 3x3 mat with the station printed on it somehow and some cargo container pieces or something. Would dovetail with the transport nicely i think.

All I really know right now is that it is going to be a monster, a beast to kill, and that it will be the centerpiece for specialized missions. I'll have to look at my notes and post what I've got down so far.

I also thought of the idea , making only the central hub and say 2 arms visible.

Mount on a few removable turrets that can be destroyed, a few fixed cargo containers as targets, and hull points for the central hub to take the station out as a whole. Perfect for a scenario game.

Also would be good to establish when a new "wave" of reinforcements would come into play, say every 4-6 full turns. Could get a new pair of ties come in or rebels hyperspace in, to prevent it from being too cluttered.

Maybe ill toy with something tonight at home..

For this idea I was thinking of giving the center hub of the platform a "Deploy Fighters" ability, whereby the player controlling the station is given a certain amount of points to spend on fighters before the game, and it can use that action to place two fighters or one transport within Range 1 of the center hub (up to a max of four fighters at a time).
