going to my first tournament.

Witch list should I go with

luke- marksman,shield upgrade

wedge- shield upgrade

Jan- recon specialist, blaster turret

or

3xgold sq-ion cannon turrets

ten numb/or another 31 point ship

any suggestions for the 31 point ship for the y's would be cool as well.

Im a big fan of wedge + Swarm Tactics if your looking to spend 31 points on rebels, though once wave 4 hits that answer will likely be saying a couple z95s

I wouldn't run either list; both have some critical weaknesses. Something that could work a bit like that first list:

Luke + Draw Their Fire + R2-D2+ Shield Upgrade

Jan + Ion Cannon Turret

Ibtisam + Opportunist

But really you'd probably be safer with a 4-ship build...

So swarm with wedge so I can shoot first with one of the y's and wedge instead of waiting for all my opponents shots. I like this because the low PS team worries me, move first shoot last is not usually how I like to do it but I'm in love with the y's

I would go with the Paul h. Build but I lack the advanced sensors. And I like that 3 ship suggestion maybe I will do that, but out of curiosity what are the weaknesses to the first list? I'm still new and the info would be great.

(1) Marksmanship typically isn't an effective way to spend points. You sacrifice a lot of flexibility when you go from focus to Marksmanship, and the payoff of the crit isn't good enough.

(2) Shield Upgrades are typically not an efficient way to spend points. I included one on Luke because he's hopefully going to taking that damage, and because with R2-D2 it's no longer a one-shot upgrade.

(3) Blaster Turrets can be tough to use, particularly if you come across an opponent who likes to put a ship in your way and deny you your action. The damage from an Ion Cannon Turret is typically a bit lower, but there's no risk of being unable to attack with it, and the extra control it brings is usually worth it. (Plus it's cheaper than Blaster Turret + Recon Specialist.)

(4) Wedge is scary to fly against, but he's kind of a one-trick pony. I like him as a metagame counter to high-Agility ships, but (although this will change as soon as Wave 4 is in full distribution) those aren't something for which you should need a "silver bullet" right now.

(5) Overall, 17 total hit points with 2 Agility is on the fragile side, making your list into a bit of a glass cannon. That's a big part of why my revision added a B-wing instead of using (e.g.) Wedge + Push the Limit + R2 Astromech, but it's something that (at the moment, anyway) you have to keep in mind with almost any 3-ship Rebel list--they can feel tanky, particularly to new players, but by competitive standards they're inconsistent and fragile.

Vorpal thanks for the info I am going to look at my list and make some changes so long as I can get at least one play test with the team before I use it. I didn't even think about people bumping Jan until you said that and the it would render the blaster turret. I have to look in to making a 4 ship build for things like this Again thanks for the info and wish me luck!
