Imperial HUGE Ships...I'm Calling It.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

A damsel who singlehandedly kills her captor, gets the man she wants, kicks royal ass and seriously outranks any Rebel onscreen but Mon Mothma. And she's a better shot than any man onscreen.

Leia rules, alwas has, always will.

can confirm that.

in OT she had more frags with blaster than even Han.

Hel-Nah HAN did the most runnin and gunnin. Liea did do her share for sure, but Han did the most... go watch the films again Brah.

;)

watched just the last weekend.

we're not considering luke and Deathstar M-M-MONSTERKILL?

RECOUNT!

Regarding it being the parents job to filter. Absolutely right, completely correct. But: haven't you noticed in advertising, that to be blunt: sex sells, Sure we see the shirtless guys, and mostly naked chicks, and you know what. Both look great. But are they good role models - should that kind of advertising be plastered absolutely everywhere... probably not.

I am glad the m-m-m-MONSTERKILL was mentioned, in the UT games, I always select the aroused announcer for just that reason. Please understand, that I am quite literally the furthest from being a prudish individual that any of you here are likely to meet.

I do want better for my kids though. I understand this might make me a bit of a hypocrite, fine. But really, I want better for my kids. I want true equality, by which i mean it goes both ways. Example, there was this ad on UK TV about a decade ago, where this bloke was cooking for his missus and she was kinda taking the piss "ooh aromatic spices" man, I wanted to backhand that lady through the wall, with a 40K powerfist. I'm a guy who can do the cooking, as long as my wife can occasionally pick up the hammer drill and put up a curtain rod.

Admittedly, I'd not trust her with le femme mikita (my drill) if her life depended on it. But, that's the ideal I think we should all work towards, as a culture.

This segues neatly onto huge ships by the way. 1970s-90s fluff has almost no female officers in a racist, sexist regime. Post disney reboot, that's totally not the case. Product of it's time strikes again! I hope to see more female bridge captains in rebels also.

As an aside, whoever said that Leia was sexiest as Bouche was completely correct, badass, slightly mussed up hair. Truly at her most beautiful.

I want to know what logistics are required for getting them all on a table. I mean, once a table reaches a certain size, moving the pieces becomes difficult.

JBR7 Is perhaps one of the very very few to out-number my collection.

My collection has the mentality that I must be able to make 100 points out of any one ship. With the exception of a few larges I can. As it stands right now he is the only person here who beats my 9 interceptors to my knowledge. (and matches my Rebel Aces, i see your 6 A 6 B there).

An epic game between myself and JBR7 could easily hit 1000 points, likely 1500. Possibly 2000 now.

One day I hope to make this happen.

The logistics behind such a theoretical huge super-epic game I'd like to discuss in another thread.

Slave Leia is the reduction the only woman in the movies with more than a minute's worth of lines to a damsel, and it's not cool, PC nothing.

One of the few good things that Disney has done with the property is gutting the blatant sexism inherent in ol' Georgie's work.

And yet the movies are mega blockbusters with a bajillion devoted fans across all nations, languages and ethnicities, and made bajillions of dollars. What does this say regarding people's ability to appreciate the truth of mythology?

YUP!

:D

One of the big reasons that I make cute little Emotes and all of these ship ICONS is to use them in a layout for my battle reports.

I have to get some more things setup like better lighting and such... but one day in 2016 I am going to start posting some full BAMF'ing X-EPIC Videos.

It is a lot of work, but it is also a lot of fun so I am gonna do it.

:D

Just made Kavil too... cause YEAH he is gonna be in most of my SCUM Fleets.

Darius, what exactly about ads selling sex or a lack of female officers on the bridge of a Star Destroyer equates to wanting better for your kids? (presumably meaning that because those things exist, something is not good for your kids?) I'm not asking rhetorically or being inflammatory, I genuinely don't understand. I don't have kids, and no daughters to be sure, so perhaps there is an angle that I'm missing. I don't expect children to really pay attention to CK1 or Abercrombie ads any more than I would expect them to watch porn; neither one is targeted or appropriate for children. I don't expect to see role models for children in clothing/fragrance ads, nor in porn, and really, not even in Star Wars movies.

That being said, if there happens to be role model(s) in a Star Wars movie, so be it, but that's really not the purpose. The only one that's supposed to be a role model for your kids is you (and perhaps close relatives and such). Star Wars is mythology; it works and is successful only insomuch as its ability to entertain and tell us truths about our own existence. If it does/can do that well, it will be successful, and if we happen to find something there that we can relate to, so much the better! (and hopefully we will vis a vis hero with a thousand faces and all that)

Alright, so if you don't have kids this is definitely an angle you are missing. I know this as my views for a lot of things were very different before I had kids. I was a metric **** tonne more nihilistic.

This is a point that's kind of hard for me to communicate, but basically to cut short - hollywood movies with fanservice rather than good female role models (or male for that matter) = bad. Example: My daughter, like a lot of girls, is all into the pretty princess crap. Most classic princesses are useless. Leia is not one of them, she kicks ass (more than han and luke) and I believe we need to see more of those, and less Kardashians/underwear models/near naked pop stars.

With the billboard ads of fragrance models/etc the whole sex marketing, predominantly to young females is pervasive to society. Has been for a long time. It's believed, -and I am sure if i bothered I can find a source somewhere - that said ads actually lower the self esteem in women. This is a bad thing.

So when I see, in a book, a young lady commanding a star destroyer. I approve. I can say, here Autumn look, that's a girl in that silver stormtrooper armour, and she's badass. It's completely not sexualized, or, look at that lady ordering everyone around, driving a huge battleship - isn't that cool! Which isn't a big deal now, as the girl is 6 but in 10 years it will be for me (she'll be 16 then). So building on that, a woman can be a not-sexualized badass point is a good foundation now, which will be useful in 10 years time.

Parenting isn't easy, you can't shut your kids off from the world, and filtering too much is the worst thing you can do . It's better for society to evolve so that filtration isn't so needed. The best way to draw attention to something is to censor it, afterall.

This said, society has evolved. The 1970s and 80s era is a completely different galaxy than todays, TFA's Captain Phasma is a fantastic example, I am sure there will be more.

Anyway, back to bare midriff Howlie and stormies.

That's saying "you must be pretty more than practical". Not a message I'd like to see my daughter read too much into. Rather "pretty is nice, be pretty when it's time to be pretty if you want, otherwise, be badass".

Now back to Corvette and frigate class ships we'd like to see, dammit I am being too serious.

...so... Nebulon B Frigate, anyone?

Still waiting for my space rocks. I promise when i get it will post review, pics.

With the new cards in the gozer deck it looks a lot more appealing.

COMPLETELY NECKED!!!

Going back to Joe's latest bout of insanity for a second...

creepio.gif

I will say i think the neb b should be allowed 2 modifications, or a frigateweight mod that allows reinforce to mitigate 2.

How about putting a sensor jammer on it, or on all huge?

Not a bad idea... Still, is it the proc we want, afterall a sensor jammer isn't so fluffy when the ship is half a klick in length. Beefing the reinforce fits more thematically.

If I were A part of this.. I would just want A gozanti, Soontir, and 3 Interceptors. Just go from table to table wreacking havoc!

Although A phantom would be nice to, Can outmanuever most ships, and if your in a pinch, you can warp to another Table.

How many points would you say Orrin? 150? 200?

Because maybe 3-6 a side 150 points each could work.

and leaving the edge can count as jump-driving in that direction.

That way each player has either a capital ship, a small squadron or a gozer-squad/ EMPGR75 to command.

Then just gotta do something about uniques.

assume 4 a side. would need 10 tables 4X4.

4 each side starting positions, 1 starbase table. organize which table jump points to which.

Last team standing OR first team to cap/destroy the others starbase wins.
